I was introduced to this place we call Glamis at a very early age. I can remember the first time I was graced with the beauty of those rolling dunes. I was in awe of the sheer size and power of the massive sand sculptures. The panoramic beauty of the landscapes and "painting like" sunsets that can only be truley appreciated by those whom have experienced them first hand.
I remember playing a game we called "rabbit drill" ( a football game in the sand) Learning to drive a stick shift, playing with those little black beetles that put their butt up in the air when they feel threatened, spending quality time with my family and friends, and all around good fun.
I started out on an ATC 90. We had 2 of them, the green one and the yellow one. My brother and I would ride them until the sun went down and beg for more. As we grew, so did the horsepower. My Dad built my ATC 90 to a 112 and I thought I was unbeatable. Then came the 185 s. No suspension but wow, was it fast!
Next, it was time to try out the 2 wheelers. YZ 125, CR 250 and then the CR 500. Now I'm in a 4 seater rail with my own 2 children in the back seat. My hope is to have my children experience the same enjoyment out of Glamis that I received as a kid.
My brother and I, along with our family, still frequent this mystical place with no intentions of stopping.
Thank you, Dad, for teaching me how wonderful this place is and how to respect it for future generations.
