Man you should have seen me.. I was fed up. I was mad as hell and my patience with Mr. Patterson and them types was past my boiling point..
I put on my special outfit and grabbed up my gear. I was gonna remove those stakes and no-one was gonna stop me!!! >:< >:<
Just as I was making a mad dash for them, I got a call on my cell phone from a familiar voice but I just didnt know who it was..
They asked me to back off and be patience. There will be a time when I can proceed on cutting them down, its just not now.. They asked me to look around and take a deep breath.. I did so. They asked me to take in the beauty of my surroundings.. I did so. Suddenly all my angers were gone. I was breathing normally now and had a new idea.. I put that outfit back on the shelf for another time. Soon I hope that time will come..
Here is a pic taken while at the peak of my anger.. As you can see, it was pretty bad!

Last year I ran out of gas right next to the buttercup closure. While waiting for my friends to return with more fuel I walked over the stakes and replanted one that had fallen. But with the wind blowing it didn't last 2 minutes before falling again

I went back and crammed it in deeper and sure enough it went down again in just a few minutes. I replanted that !*@&! thing at least 5 times but it just did no good - mother nature was rejecting the foreign object being crammed into her skin and there was nothing I could do to make her accept it.

I helped plant those ugly things, and I will help remove them, every single one! With a big smile on my face. Until then I keep my anger focused at ALL anti-access groups and who ever supports them.

He most likely help plant the stakes to show that the OHV community is willing to abide by the rules that the BLM set forth. People like you show that you don't care about the future of our dunes!! It is a relationship that needs to be understood and met halfway.....Because of this we are getting our dunes back. :bounce:

I understand the question... I was there and it was hard to believe.
I think it was at one of the first Desert Advisory Council meetings I attended when one of the Council members started talking about how some of the OHV community is fighting against their own grain, doing all they can to keep the closures from getting any bigger. Another Council member was shocked and amazed, saying something like "are you saying you were willing to help put in the very markers that are keeping you out of 49,000 acres?" It seemed to me that's when they really started listening.
It was a very difficult thing to do, that's for sure. Interesting moment though... at the beginning of last season, when we were trying to get teams together to hand out information reminding people about the temporary closures, the fact that the stakes were in bad shape again was brought up. This time not one person from the OHV community raised their hand to volunteer to help.
I will say though that those kind of cooperative efforts do make a difference. I know that because the RAMP would have been out long ago if the BLM hadn't stood strong against permanently closing those areas. They had tremendous pressure and even a little bit of extortion (OHMVR Commission withheld $$) to give in and keep those areas closed but it's not what the duning community wants and so they did not cave in.
Ask for yourself this Saturday... you'll see it's a fact.
