My son's 2003 Raptor 80 doesn't have any spark. I've changed the spark plug already. Where do I go from here?
Thanks.

Thanks for the info!
Can stator problems by intermittent? We unloaded today. My son tries to start it.... wishful thinking... and it started! We continued to start it another 4 times this afternoon and it worked great.
Forgive my ignorance, (I've been a buggy guy for 15 years and my kids are getting me back in to quads), what do you mean by "rewind" the stator? What does a stator do? Is this an issue done be a dealer, or what?

On my boys, the dealer said " it came apart". I dont know what it means, but the dealer fixed it under warranty. No issues since.
It is for sale by the way- they grow fast!!!

I had some time today and went to a dealer. They said with it being intermittent, it was not the stator. Probably the "CDI Box", but could not tell for sure if everything was working fine again.
I get home from work, and again, no spark. A new CDI Box is $230.
Anyone have experience with this?
Should I just take it in to a dealer?
Or, buy a new CDI Box and hope that fixes it?

In our dealership, we don't see CDI's or Stator's going bad very often. We ususally first look at the ALL connections, clean them with De Oxit and reassemble with dielectric grease. This is a common problem with the washing of these types of machines.
We also first check the spark plug cap to make sure its in specs. This is the most common problem we see.
CDI's are a rare problem. Stators are also a rare problem.
This motor has been made for many years and is usually problem free.
PM me and I'll get you the spec's for measuring the electrical system.

I took it into a dealer and I am not too confident with their diagnosis.
They said the valves were out of adjustment to the point of a valve sticking and that will make it lose spark. I'm not a technician, but this sounds bogus to me. When it would start, it ran fine. I did not detect any valve adjustment issues by the way it ran. It's just that the spark was intermittent.
Can someone lend any validity to their diagnosis?
