Ok so this is a pretty general question for the Raptor owners in here.
What mods can you all recommend.
1) Air box mod via new filter and outwear???
2) What Pipe??? Full versus Slip-On???
3) I know it will need to be rejetted.
4) I know I will need paddles as well.
Please list away as I am about to crack the piggy bank open and mod her up.
Thanks in advance.

Just buy the DS and you wont have to do all kinds of crap to make it run.

Try and squeeze Banshee plastics on it. That may avoid some of the laughter you'll get.

Wet Work,
Big Gun makes a great pipe for the raptor. As for paddles, I ran my Raptor all over Glamis without them. The stock tires hook up exellent in the sand. I flew up any hill and the ride was smoother. I never bought a set.

My roomate has a Curtis Sparks. Pretty fast. Faster than his brothers Big Gun. Alba pipe is LOUD as hell.

Alba makes their own pipe. Louder than the Big Gun or the Curtis Sparks.
What noise restrictions?

You will usualy find two type of pipes now, "race" and "legal" the noise regs that went into effect this year call for max 96db (I'm pretty sure on that number.) When I went and bought a White Bros pipe, they had the two versions, so make sure you ask if the pipe you are buying is legal (in Ca.) outside of a closed track.

For a Pipe- I would go with a Yoshi, Sparks, MBRP or Alien. Stay away from Big Gun (alot of noise and not enough HP). Yoshi has the Tunable End Cap (TEC) to quiet it down when you need to as well as a US Forestry approved spark arrestor.
Put a Pro-flow K&N kit in and take the lid off. Put a Dynojet 148/150 and your ready to tear it up.

Thanks for the info Sand Junkie, one more question, what about FMF pipes???
Do you all mix headers with slip-ons??? IE GYT-R headers with like a Sparks can???

FMF makes good quality pipes. You will probably get 90% of the power out of just a slip on if you don't have any motor mods. Once you start modding the motor with piston and cam, then you will see the benefits of the full head pipe.

Where to start on the Raptor!
If i were you, and you dont want to be riding two wheels all over the place, you must work on the Rappys suspension. For whatever reason(in collusion with suspension co. ???) they made the Raptor narrower, shorter, AND Taller than all other sport quads, even the 400 ex for Christ sakes! This makes for a tippy handling bike. I know some of you guys are going to say" its not tippy, its the rider" Ok, ive ridden many, and they are tippy. + 2 or +3 on the front a-arms. With +3 your probably going to have to get new shocks. If you intend to add much poower later(which a pipe and jet kit WONT do on a 4 stroke) your going to need an extended swing arm. + 2 - + 4 on that. + 4 widened rear axle.
The Yosh Full comp and Sparks pipes seems to be the ticket, but ive also heard some good thingks about MBPR pipes. The Yosh full Comp is a titanium pipe, meaning much less weight.
If you can afford paddles, buy them. Sure, it will get around with knobbies, but we havent been running paddle tires in the sand for this many years, just to say we can. They do make a difference!
Good luck.

I installed the wheel extensions from Sand Sport.A full 3 inches. They are awesome.Top quality and heavy duty.If you are on a budget I would highly recommend them.

Thanks guys. I have the pipe narrowed down to either Sparks or CT. I am looking at doing a Lobo Front end from Roll Design to my Rappy along with new shocks all the way around.

Roost,
I completely disagree with you about the paddles. Im telling you you dont need them on a stock Raptor or one with a pipe. I raced my friends numerous times without paddles and beat them up the hill everytime. A high reving bike like a Banshee needs them, big heavy sandrails need them.Guys used to say to me "When are you gonna buy paddles?" Never Id say ,theyd give me shiot about it until I smoked them time and time again. I was as fast or faster out of the hole and diffenately faster up the hill without them. Plus the ride of those knobbies is smooth as silk. Try it I think you will be surprised.

To Paddle or Not to Paddle
On My Raptor I have run Both with or without and definately prefer without for Duning Around (for Drags was a toss up, smoother launch without)

I have an FMF pipe on my Rap with stock head pipe (But I jet hot coated it) and have the Uni filter.
With the stock jets, the exhaust turned red hot; so hot in fact, that the head pipe was almost translucent.
Until I get new jets, I have to ride with the choke on full
Mine is a 49 state model and has no problem beating even banshees.
I have ridden with paddles and without.
I like it both ways.
With paddles I have to work at keeping the front end on the sand.
Without paddles it seems to handle a lot better and has an all around better feel.
Bottom line:
Paddles = adrenaline
Knobbies = good ride
