Not sure what you mean by “represented
here” since it seems really very few people are posting as official “representatives” of any one particular organization, so I’m going to interpret it in a general sense.
There are so many organizations representing off-road interests in southern California. Some are statewide and some are nationwide and some are very focused on just one particular area. Here’s some that come to mind right away:
http://www.sharetrails.org/Blue Ribbon Coalition
http://www.desertvipersmc.com/Desert Vipers Motorcycle Club
http://www.ama-cycle.org/American Motorcyclists Association
http://www.cal4wheel.com/California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs
California League of Off Road Voters
http://www.clorv.org/Crowley Off-Road
http://www.crowley-offroad.com/Friends of Sand Mountain
http://www.sandmountain-nv.org/National Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Counsel
http://www.nohvcc.org/Tread Lightly
http://www.treadlightly.org/United Four Wheel Drive Association
http://www.ufwda.org/Friends of El Mirage
http://www.elmirage.org/I’m sure there are many that I missed. As they come to mind I’ll amend this post.
And of course these two:
DUNERS, www.duners.org, BOD: Vicki Warren, Karl Myers, Mike Lyon, Curt Schermerhorn, Jason Chappelear (contact bod@duners.org)
Dues of $15/yearContact info for the board
Meeting dates change, as needs arise. Next tentative is 10/06
Friends of Dumont Dunes, www.friendsofdumontdunes.org, Vicki Warren, Terry Allen, John Dalgleish, Rick Fisher, Jerry Canning (contact bod@friendsofdumontdunes.org)
Dues $24 per year
Meeting dates fluctuate, next tentative 08/01
So many to choose from and operating philosophies vary quite a bit. Some focus on legislative affairs, some on lawsuits, some on-the-ground. But each one is its own organization, doing whatever it was designed to do, all shooting for the the same thing, CONTINUED ACCESS.
With all these choices there’s a shoe for every foot, so to speak. Or a toy for every dune or something like that.
