My banshee is basically all stock and this summer i am going to go through it and put forged pistons in it and maybe redo all the gaskets and such, i was thinkin about puttin a mild port on my cylinders while i had them off for the pistons. Would porting my cylinders lower my reliability? Because currently my bike is so reliable, it starts after one kick after sittin for a month and i kinda like that. So input would be greatly appreciated and if anyone knows anybody who does good porting in the San Diego county area besides Duncan Racing thanks again.

I had my 250R ported and the head shaved this past summer, it really woke it up. I have my bike apart because the tranny went :.(., and the top end looks great (after about 12 dune trips). I am only going to put new rings in and go. As long as you don't go crazy on the porting, reliability should not be an issue as long as your jetting is right.
I had my work done at Fox Engine Works in Alpine. Their # is 619-445-1415, ask for Allen.

I had the exact same question. I want more power, but do not want to sacrifice reliability. I have heard that wicked atv in Corona does good port work, but have not had a chance to check them out personally yet.

a freind at work had a very nice running crisp 370 banshee, had to have the tranny done and got talked into a port job. basically ruined the bike, it uses so much fuel he cant even dune it and it is a one rpm bike, high. he wishes he woulda left it with just a 370 and no porting with just a little more compression. keep this in mind when asking for a porting job, make sure the guy grinding your ports doesnt ruin your style of riding.

The porting I had done by Dean Sundahl in santee really woke my banshee up. Night and day difference. I did go crazy with the porting, stage 5 is what he called it, and it didn't have much bottom end, but with a banshee how much time do you spend in the low end anyway. I still ran stock carbs with 330 mains, and it did go thru fuel alot more, but I still duned it just fine without a desert tank. I only had to switch over to reserve once, after a 2hr full balls to walls run.

There is no way I can think of on a quad to get more power without using more fuel. Just the nature of the beast. As long as you dont go to crazy, mileage shouldnt suffer too much.

my freinds fuel usage was so bad he could straight line to olds from pad 2, run the hill once, and straight line back to pad 2 and he hit reserve just as he pulls into camp. he has bigger carbs on it also.
