I cut my fenders with a VERY sharp razor blade.
faster dad!!!

just did them on a 03 banshee. Used tape to mark the lines and a grinder w/a cut off wheel. and finished the rough edges w/ orbital sander and started off w/hevey gritt sandpaper all the way don to 500 grit. then used plastic renew to dress up the rest of the plastics. It was time consumeing but It is not worth doing if you dont do it right!!!!

1, Tape off the area to be cut
2. Use a dremel of jigsaw to cut.
3. Shape it with a bremel sander attachment and sandpaper
4. carefully use a heat gun on the edges to blend it in.
I've done this on about 5 quads and comes out perfect every time.

the thing I have found using a dremel is if you hickup or if it catches a edge you are effed. but if it works for ya more power to ya!!!

I used electric tape and a dremmel. My brother cut hios fenders straight with a hacksaw. Both ways came out good.
SHOCKER
Jul 25 2006, 04:05 PM
I used a jig saw with the area taped off. All of the aboce will work good to just depends if you can fit what in where.

I used an air body saw then shaped it with and angle grinder w/80 grit, then a propane torch to re-gloss the edges, looked friggin factory.
SHOCKER
Jul 25 2006, 06:45 PM
friggin sweet, lol. I used a heat gun, but didnt spend too much time on it.

i used a japanese tree saw, real fine teeth, and all one width. no backer like a hacksaw, then sanded and glossed with the heat gun.

I've cut a few fenders in my time and what works best for me is to use masking tape, draw were you want to cut and use just a hacksaw blade to cut with. Doing it this way there's less of a chance of screwing up...

hahah actually I am shrinking effer

wait till your my age you young wippersnapper

hey why dont someone Patent fenders are are already molded the way you kids like to have them? or is that how fullbore does it???
Bansh88
Jul 26 2006, 05:55 AM
New Hondas have removeable fenders. Smart. I'd say 80% of Banshees have the front fenders cut. At least the Banshees that are actually ridden.
Fullbores look nice but are very expensive. There needs to be more manufatureres making the stuff. There is an ebay company making fullbore fiberglass knockof that look good. You have to paint them though

Jul 26 2006, 06:26 AM
Laker custom makes fenders that are already cut, maier has a a mx/tt race cut or the trail version with the full fenders. There is another company making fenders that sale for real cheap and bolt off. fullbore ofcourse is really expensive but the best looking.

Maybe if Yamaha made the body more aerodynamic and the radiator a little less like a rolling bilboard.
Bansh88
Jul 26 2006, 06:52 AM
Radiator in same place. Other plastics are just higher up. Same aerodynamics.
Laker plastics are horrible looking. Worse than stock.

Those are nice Bugsy! Do they have them for a 400ex?
Banshee380- I'm doing the surgury on my sons 400ex. Also, while I'm at it, I'm going to try to get all the scratches out and try to make the plastic look new again. "Try" is the key word here.

Hey guys, I finally did it. I did the cutting while my son oversaw the project. I got a thumbs up so I must have done an alright job. I did it with a hacksaw blade with no handle. Worked good. Thanks for all the advise. Here's some before and after pics. For my first time, I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.

No I didn't. They're Sand Gear tires by Innova. I was going to buy ITP fronts but these were cheaper and perform the same so I figured I'd give 'em a shot. The boy's pretty happy with them.
