go to your profile, in the section that says "avatars" theres a little box you can put the URL (address) of the pic in it. pretty much like pastor said above. thats how i got mine  the easiest way to do this is: 1. right click on the picture, click on "properties". 2. highlight the URL, right click on the highlight, and click on "copy". 3. then go back to your profile and right click in the little box, click on "paste". the URL should appear in the box. you're done. click "submit"

Okay in the profile Screen I have a pic of the avator that I want. Now when I go to post a message it doesn't appear
The Pastor
Ok, I checked it out and you have it all set correctly...

Now all you need is a few more points (50) and then you can "purchass" the ability to have an avatar from the "shop"...
(the shop is located on a link near the top of the page)

You need to put [img] before the url. Also see my post below.

Lets see if this works

You need to put [img] before the url.

And [/img] after the url.

It wouldn't let me type both of those in one post without putting a pic up. laughing.gif
The Pastor
use the "CODE" tag:
CODE

[img]http://www.glamisdunes.com/photopost/watermark.php?file=500/1673im000435-med.jpg&sort=1[/img]

Aha! I see the problem... you cannot have "Sort=1" at the end... just remove it like this:
CODE

[img]http://www.glamisdunes.com/photopost/watermark.php?file=500/1673im000435-med.jpg[/img]

The Pastor
side note: there is NO space between the IMG tag and the URL and the /IMG tag (it may look like there is a space... but there must be NO space!)

Kerin, it doesn't show on the "Quick Reply." You need to hit the button that says "Add Reply" and then it will be at the bottom. It says "Browse" to the right of the empty box. Click on that.

Basickly GIF and JPG are the best... there's a few others but I can't remember them right now!

The Pastor
RGfan...
What you did wrong was that you used the URL of the PAGE that has the picture...
What you need to do is right click inside of the picture and select "Properties"... and use the URL of the picture... which is...
CODE
http://www.glamisdunes.com/photopost/watermark.php?file=500/583stuck-med.jpg&sort=1

Put it between [IMG] tags and it'll look like this:

Hows that?
(I had to remove the &sort=1 from the end of the url)

How do I make my picture available on the internet so that I can add it to my post. Right now I have the pictures on my hard drive.
The Pastor
Sy,
There are two things you can do...

If you just want to put it in a post you can use the "add attachment" option available when you make a new post or use the"add reply" button.
It will allow you to upload a picture from your harddrive right to the post.

Or,
You can upload your picture to the "Dirt-e-pics" section of this board, for free. It will then be available for posting anywhere on the web.

The Pastor smokin.gif
SY
ok, thanks, I'll try both options. Thanks

This is what I got.

THE FOLLOWING ERROR(S) WERE FOUND
You cannot upload this type of file

This has a JPG on the end too. icon_confused.gif icon_confused.gif
The Pastor
e-mail the pic here
mailto:bandor_01@yahoo.com
And I'll check it out...

Maybe you had a space at the end of the filename?
Sometimes spaces in the filename can cause probs...

Possibly too large?

I'll check it out.
