My boots seem to be rubbing the paint off of the frame (and on to my plastics). Any suggestions on how to keep any more from coming off? Do they sell touch up paint for that?

i think its just powder coat wearing off... sure probably could make a rattle can to it. alot of Motocross riders put grip tape there to they can hold on to the bike in air. your just going to repaint alot. when mine starts wearing, im going to cover mine in grip tape as well. (grip take as like the tape on a skate board)

They make all differnt kinds of frame guards. I have seen alot of aluminum ones and a couple carbon fiber ones that bolt on in that area. Also PJ1 sells paint that is suppossed to match OEM PC colors, but i have know clue how well it matches.

Bingo! Shocker is right. Get the frame gaurds. I rubbed all the paint off in the first day. I put frame gaurds on and have had no issues since.

bought some frame guards for the bros YFZ for his b-day, work great.
SHOCKER
i made my own.

Heres pics of mine. I just used some scrap aluminum we had laying around. I formed them around the frame and then sprayed some flat black paint on it real quick. As you can see the paint rubbed off already so i think ill just sand it off and then polish them instead.

I would touch up the paint were it has rubbed off to ensure no rust ever forms before putting the guards on. If you dont ride by the salt water ever or near wetness - i wouldn't worry about it.
SHOCKER
No because moisture would get in between the guards and the frame and create rust so id say no matter what touch up the bare spots.

Like those shocker! Wish I had some scrap layin around LOL... how thick are they?
SHOCKER
thanks! They arent very thick at all. They were the old floor boards from my dad's buggy. They came out pretty nice IMO. I like them better then others because one they were free, two i made them myself, and three the arent big and bulky. They are very slim and unoticable at a first glance unlike the pro armor ones. I would of bought the carbon fiber one's but they are too much.

These guys make factory touch up paint. Kind or expensive but color matches up great on the factory Yamaha grey frames

Hey, if you find any more scrap I would love a duplicate pair!
Just a thought.
