This is going to be my second season on my car and I've noticed the shocks are looking pretty dull with a haze over them. I took a little Mother's polish to them and they shined up immediately with little effort. The shock were not anodized or any other bling added. Is it OK to shine them up with Mother's polish, or are there any negative effects to the shocks or will they prone to rust? Here are some pics of how they almost come out chrome.

Polishing the shocks will completely decrease the effectivenss of it's heat dissipation properties.
You will also forever be known as a "bling king"

Don't know about King, but FOX says to wax your shock bodies before use and perodically to keep them looking good.....

You can come over and do mine. I will go to G and let you know if it had any affect on the shocks.

Be careful, the shock bodies are steel, I don't know if polishing them will remove the painted coating?

You know its more accurate to test in larger samples. I will step up and let you polish mine too, for the sake of science and accuracy...

Steel not aluminum,,,I was a King last week asking the same ???
I was told to use ''Neverdull'' the 'wadding' with polish already added in. I was told if a little is good a lot IS NOT better, you could wear thru the coating and be down to bare steel.

JS, maybe we ca meet up at G and he can polish both of our shocks. Well not mine but the wifes, she has triple by-pass Foxes that need a cleaning up. If he can do both at the same time we can review the performance on the before and after. What do you say ?
