Been riding the Mtn Bike but gas powered stuff for me lately. I was gonna try and get out this weekend for the night ride but as it turns out its my nephews fiorst B-Day. Oh well next time. You did the rookie move!!! Thats great. Bet you wont leave the flag like that again. There are lots of good flags out there and I have tried lots of them. One thing that I have found out is the best one I have had so far is the plain ole simple screw on and tighten flag. The problem with a lot of the other flags (the thicker whips and quick release stuff) is when they break they are sometimes hard to replace out in the dunes or other places. Not everybody carries all of the mounting hardwear. The plain and simple ones are everywhere you look. If you buy the lighted ones make sure you fuse it before you get to the bike. You dont need to be frying anything WHEN you break it. If you feel the need to light one of the simple whips get yourself a light stick and zip tie it on there. I have had a few of the quick release ones and they all break at some point or the fittings wear out with all of the sand and movement that the endure. Happy hunting!!

Thanks for the heads up DH... I see what you mean about the eventuality of these whips breaking. Rookie I be...

You dont have to be a rookie to break a flag. You ARE a rookie if you think that you will NEVER break the flag!

Ohh I know I will break many flags... Yet to roll the Raptor... But a few friends have actually roilled their DS's and snapped the whips...

WHAT, I never break whips!!! have the same one on my bike since new.. although a few inches shorter.. biggrin.gif

Cheap 8.00 - 15.00 whips and buy a bunch of them. when they break, you just saw off the bottom broken part and shove it back in the hole! done..
Reasons to buy so many is sometimes you lose them (not see them break) and most of the time someone shows without a whip and you can let them use them. I went through 12+ last season loaning them and strapping them to walkers, and breaking them etc.. I've even see the expensive buggy whips on quads cause damage to the quad where it mounts.. so carefull.

makes some cool stuff you can wrap around your cheap flag and stuff lasts. I made a whip for my truck that ROCKS!!!

RIS makes the baddest ass quick release. Fairly easy to put a shredded whip back into in a pinch. Use a file to cut a broken whip. It doesn't fray the fiberglass.
Lighted whips are gay!

Oh yeah. If you're not flyin' a Rebel Flag, you're just not flyin'!

I had a 250r fourtrax that I rode for about 8 seasons with a stainless steel whip. I sold that 8 year old whip with the bike, and I imagine that it is still being used today. If I find another one like it, (whip) I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Keep your eyes open for it. I customized it by sewing a piece of a green Glamis tee shirt to it.
