Full Version: Rhino Key Switch

Mr.DUNE
I forgot that the keys to the Rhino are in the wife’s truck so I push the rhino out of the garage to wash and wax it and can't push the heavy ass thing back up hill into the garage. So the thing won't move and I have no key to start it so I start looking around for a key that might fit it and what do you know my trailer key fits in the slot and fits so well that it started the rhino up so I could drive it into the garage.

I thought I'd post this to give everyone a heads up that the key switch in these things are junk and give you no security. It wouldn't take me but 2 seconds to still anyone of your Rhinos so I got on E-bay and found a car alarm system for the Rhino that disables the ignition system and comes with two key bobs so I ordered it.

These thing cost to much to rely on the key system to keep them from being stolen, so I strongly recommend to everyone that has one make it harder for anyone to steal

That would definitely work too....probably even be a better way to go then a toggle switch.

Let me know where you get your quick release steering wheel setup at. I'm interested in one as well.

Chance,
I bought one of those for mine and am also wiring in a hidden kill switch.
The isolator is cheaper there than any of the "rhino" shops.

Buy it from a "rhino" shop and it becomes rhino specific. They'll put a little billet knob on it with their name stamped on it with a price tag of $30 and people will come running.

Yep....

I may take my ign switch out and take it to a locksmith to see if they can re-key to a more secure key and/or install an aftermarket automotive switch that has a ACC position for the radio only...

Maybe just go with a more bullet proof ignition? I know it is a pain but I also lock mine up with a good kryptonic lock.

Yup. Insurance and a good lock of some sort. If the lock doesn't stop them insurance will replace it. Hopefully.

^^^^ they are pretty common, but if you hide it, you can slow them down a little

I put the battery cut off switch in mine and it works great. Still looking at getting the quick release steering wheel though.
