I've been sifting through the comments. Some have been great... I'm so proud to be a duner :whoa:

But others grrrrrrrrrr >:<

QUOTE
I would like to see the Imperial Sand Dunes completely closed. However I realize that a balance between humans & the environment must be established. Therefore, I support the idea of partial closure (I think it is 54%). there needs to be a limit as to how many people come. I like the numbers proposed of 54,000. The animals to plants need protection & you can help. People can find other areas to play.

The arrogance of "People can find other areas to play" is astounding.

How about this little gem... some guy from northern California:

QUOTE
As a taxpayer I adamantly oppose any reopening of Algodones and related areas to vehicles. The area was closed to protect desert tortoise from being killed. I believe it should remain closed. There are plenty of other places recreational vehicle users can go that do not have desert tortoise.

What a maroon.

This was too funny not to post... some guy in San Diego:

QUOTE
Please keep the camel's nose form slipping under the tent! Protect the Algodones dunes from off road vehicle damage as much as possible!

Egad, who brought the camel???

Oh my... bet he'd change his mind after the first real wind!

QUOTE
I urge protection of the Algodones Dunes from OHVs. The current protection of 50% of the dunes areas is an appropriate balance of the interests of OHVers and of hikers. I also support the use of the dunes areas for non sexual clothing optional recreation.

Your participation tonight is a great testament to your commitment to our shared goal of keeping not only the Imperial Sand Dunes, but all public lands open for multiple use. Southern California's growing population is hungry for the outdoors experience, and not every one of them wants to get it by hiking 20 miles through 100 degree heat while nibbling tofu.

I want to know where all these "Other Places" to play are?

QUOTE
\"People can find other areas to play\"

Where? Every where we try to play there is some reason the anti-access people find that we shouldn't play there.
