I am going to be purchasing a Rhino this week, and I was wondering what has to be done to register
it in Arizona. I already have a residents out in Havasu. Is that all I have to do to make it street legal out
there. BTW can you run the license plate on it while out in Glamis?? I am assuming that will
eliminate you from having to get a green sticker. Any info would be great, especially if someone has
already done this, please let me know the easiest way. Thanks,

Joe.

If you are buying it from a dealer just tell them you want the Rhino to be registered for the street, just pay for the registration with them and wait for your plates.

Of course you will need to add a horn, lighted license plate holder, and a rear view mirror to keep it street legal...

HA HA California!! Cant Touch AZ! Its the Wild Wild West here!!

I just did mine at the DMV about 2 weeks ago.

I had an out of state title with my name on it. Bacially, they need to verify VIN and that is it. The VIN is located on the side of the frame in the rear of the Rhino. Opposite side of the exhaust. I was looking for the VIN on it for the longest time and as soon as I put it in the back of the truck, it stared right at me.

They make you sign a form that is basically saying you understand what is needed to be street legal.

2 years of registration (Street) for it was about $250.

When I went to register mine, I had no horn, no plate holder, no windshield. Actually, all I had was a mirror and it was not a problem. It is not the job of the DMV to enfore the laws, that is for the police. They just give you what you need.

So, when I purchase it in CA. I tell the dealer I want to register it in AZ. Do I have to take the Rhino
to AZ??

Get a title in your name from CA, and then just take that over to AZ DMV when you go. Or, you can try to take it to AZ and not pay tax, which may or may not work. In order to get the title/registration in AZ, they will ahve to verify VIN #s, so yes the Rhino will have to be there.

Cool. Thank you very much.

I could be wrong but I think you have to show residency in Arizona to register it to be street legal in our wonderful state.

You all forgot something.
In order to register as street legal in AZ you must also provide proof of insurance. The kick to this is the insurance has to be from a company license/certified in AZ.

They did not ask for mine, nor did I bring proof of insurance when I registered it.
FlyingRhino
Interesting I even have to send them proof of Insurance at renewal.

Maybe the beefy chick behind the counter was feeling me than? icon_biggrin.gif I always try to be very pleasant there because sometimes they can be jerks.
The Juice
I had 2 buddies register them in AZ. Both of them took their Rhinos to the MVD office and the "inspector" did not even step outside to see if they even had them. With the insurance its state law to be insured and they dont enforce it so they dont care. If they dont receive proof of insurance within a month (or so) from an insurance company they will put a suspension on the plate.
DISTURBED
I did not provide proof of ins. on the 2 rhinos I registered. Third party places are the place to go.
