is there a power loss when widening out your rear axle?there is the dragster theory that seems to say yes but i was nt sure.if so how much?

I can't figure that there would be, but I'm not the expert. Since you are still rotating the same tire size, and pretty much same wieght, power loss would be minimal....if any. My 2 cnts

No power loss would be realized by using a different length axle. The dynamics of the application would be as torque is applied to the axle a small amount of twist will be induced for a fraction of a second and then the axle will relax as either load decreases or traction is reduced. Any loss of power realized within the twist in the axle is returned at a later moment.
