Not in stone yet and the info that is coming out is very sketchy. The BLM is basically leaking different info to different people - more or less telling everyone what they want to hear even though we all know that what they end up doing will probably have little if anything to do with what ANYONE wants let alone what they've told us
I'm just praying it's substantially less than what they've leaked so far as if those rumors pan out then I honestly don't know how I'll be able to keep going to the dunes. Thankfully enforcement at Buttercup is so lax they'd probably never notice if I didn't have a pass....but I don't like not playing by the rules. No matter what I've been having problems sleeping since they announced this

I have a hard time coming up with the $30 for a season pass already and have had to just buy weekly passes sometimes because they were all I could afford. Now if the weekly pass costs as much or more than the current season pass - my dune days could be numbered
Which REALLY pisses me off having just gone into debt to buy another dune capable vehicle and sinking several thousand into my original vehicle.
It's like DejaVu of when they closed down the dunes days after I finally got my buggy running well enough to venture out to the places they closed - and that was why I bought the buggy in the first place...to get to those places.
Yes I have taken the BLM's actions very personally - but at least it keeps me involved and fighting as a result.

That's certainly one way to look at it. The figures that both Greg Gorman and I posted weeks ago ($35 weekly/$125 for a season pass) were middle-of-the-road figures, which means there is both a high end and a low end for what is being considered. Up until last week, those figures were the only ones being discussed.
At the TRT meeting a week ago Thursday, a presentation was given that included the high end figure ($180) and they were also asked to make it clear that not only is that not set in stone, it is also only one figure that is being considered.

Vicki - I used the term "leaked" because from what some members of the TRT I've spoken with have told me the BLM was not supposed to have released info about the business plan before the TRT meeting. To top it off I find it even more disturbing that the numbers the leaked when they weren't supposed to were lower than the numbers they released officially at the TRT meeting.
Frankly I see it as just more signs of "Business as usual" at the BLM which we all know means - Ignoring user input, Management by Closure, Unaccountability, and telling people what they want to hear while taking steps to do the exact opposite. (Remember that meeting that started with "We have no plans to close comp at night" and finished with a curfew?)
I've got nothing against people who try to work with the BLM - but I feel strongly that they're fooling themselves if they think it's going to make any difference. The BLM has made every indication both in the RAMP and other management issues that they will do what they want irregardless of what their boss (the Public) has to say about it.

If they were truly only telling people what they want to hear, no fee raise would ever have been mentioned
As for working with the local agencies, each organization must make their own choices.
While the history is bad, I feel we have to push for a better future.
To try and fail is one thing. To not try at all is unacceptable.
To each their own.

i always feel better when i make effort to hold my ground in these types of battles.its when i lose ground i dont feel very well.i think if they want to be involved in managing this mess they should have a free area also.that way they can put that money into a concentrated area for the people that want it.then the people that take care of themselves can ride free.like it used to be.

You gotta be $h!tt!n me! Over a hundo for season pass!! >:< $30 wasn't too bad, since I was so used to going for free, but spending over a hun for a season is outrageous. So if the f'n tree huggers can't get us out by closing it down, they'll make it worth there while some other way. >:< Let's pray this doesn't happen >:< >:< >:< >:<

I think if they make it $130-$180 than it is time to take a stand and not buy them at all. If enough people give 'em the old FU, maybe they'll see the light.
And another thing, I haven't seen or heard where all this extra money is going. It's one thing to increase fees if there is some improvements coming . It's another if its just another public flogging for cash!!!

where is the media spotlight on this? this is the only place i visit, or see that has said anything about this issue. is this plan endorsed by gray"dumba$$" davis, or Bush? bush is a sportsman, has anyone tried to contact higher sources than just the BLM?
it seems as though the BLM has nobody governing them to do as they please. they can charge whatever they want and answer to nobody. it seems that there is a crook in office, and no regard is given to the duner. we the people, now means "you can be our people if you have enough money." i have serious issues and need a release from my everyday problems and a way to unleash my anger. i do this at glamis where i find 5th gear therapeutic. a release from stress, and where the big bowls wash away my troubles. i have a little boy due anyday and money is tight, so the extra fee increase is more than i can handle. i am going to have to evade the stops and enter in through the dunes. i buy a season pass every year, and always obey the laws....well most of them.

They'll start putting holograms into it and making it so you have to look at it under a black light to see em and start using special paper! Talk about wasting money! Sad part about it is they probably would!

Before we know it they will have some sort of electronic pass that is hard to copy. They'll put a big ass gate around all the entrances to G and when we go in we will have to slide our special card in the machine and punch in our special code and have to have hitech retinal and finger print scans!

i dont agree with any price increase either. in the past fw years ive watched the BLM weed out the bad seeds to better ou dunes. now pretty much everyone that was going against teh crowd is now following the laws. so there is only a very few bad seeds left and now it becomes greed on their behalf. im tired of seeing them get a new $60k buggy to rescue us but cant seem to get ahold of tehm past 9 oclock cuz there is a disturbence in our camp. hmmmm they can charge us out the rear for laws and regulations but they cant do the simple task of keep everyone at peace.
a sad story... 2 years ago at gordons we had a lady wonder into our camp. she was drunk and stoned and had been in a fight with her camping buddies and they left her. well we couldnt get ahold of any BLM at like 9 or 10pm at night.after knocking on BLMs trailer and calling their "emergency number" we ended up having to call El Centro PD to get someone out there over 2 hours later to pick her up. now where the heck is the BLM i mean we pay all this money to have the enforce the laws but not to help us out... come on BLM what the *uck.... BLm must be working directly with Davis to piss everyone off. >:< >:< >:<
