I finally made it out to Glamis for the first time! It was a blast and thanks to Wild Bill for hosting the Rhino Shin Dig.
I have a 686 with 489's on all 4. I went up olds a million times and the fastest I could go up was 25-26mph. We had another Rhino out there that was a stock motor with intake and dual exhaust, 489's and he was going about 18-19mph up Olds. I was only running 2psi btw which makes a BIG difference. I saw one Rhino trying to go up and he just kept spinning and had to go back down. I told him to lower his tires to 1-2psi and he made it right up after:) Not sure if you're on the boards but that was me that came down the hill with my friend to tell you.
I raced up with Brian B, and Chandler and I think Brian has video that should be pretty cool.
How fast are you guys going up Olds? I hit 57 going down it before hitting the brakes a bit before flying over the whoops... My suspension is setup for short course and had I hit the whoops that fast I probably would have been rolling end over end.. haha
I am going out next weekend for the Rhino Crash and I'll have padels on for that weekend. Should go 30mph+ pretty easy up Olds I would think? I guess we'll see....

I raced chandler up also, I was running very rich, If I take a run at the hill, I can run 28mph to about 3/4 up then I would fall down to about 21, From a stand still at the bottom, because of being rich,Curtis passed me about 3/4,Mine couldn't make the peak, I dropped 2 jet sizes and my rhino seems to have woke up, Next weekend I will see what speed I can run with proper jetting. I also have 489's was running 4psi

What mods do you have?
I was 25-26mph toward the top. Not sure about the first 3/4. Wasn't really looking early on. I was starting right before the whoops and wasn't floored until after the big ones.
Chandler was about 6-7 Rhino lengths behind me by the top. His Rhino was beating some other ones up with bolt on mods.
Too bad we can't get a Rhino to wheelie up the hills. THAT would be cool:)

I run 22-25 up to about 3/4 of the hill and then down to 18-19 for that last 1/4.

I'll be there next weekend. Here's what mine has.
Billet tip and ground welds on the exhaust
BRP blue foam from UNI
RAIS snorkel
EHS cover
sheave mod
Jetted to 150 main, 50 pilot and 2.25 mixture screw
Tires are 489's. Remember I have stock suspension also and can't floor it until after the whoops.

That's true. The stock suspension also helps acceleration though once you do floor it. Long travel slows a Rhino down quite a bit compared to stock suspension.

Longer heavier axles, etc. It's more weight overall and rotating mass for the motor to turn. Long travel definitely slows them down.

okay, yeah, it all makes sense, I just didn't think it would be so noticeable. I think part of it was we drove it before I aligned it & it was waaaay too toed in, also.
I guess since they're kinda underpowered as is, adding a little weight adds up quick!

If you've got it jacked up sky high, you're losing more power. With CVs, the more angle it's at, the more power lost. And you have 8 CVs on that thing.

...good point. I actually was surprised (& a little dissapointed) with how tall it sat...probably about 9-10" uptravel & 3-4" droop front & rear. we went with the suggested springrates for rhino's (even a little soft in the rear for a 4 seater (400 lb. coil)

I was surprised when a couple of Rhino owners told me they couldn't make it up Comp Hill.

Mine made it just fine, at about 18-19mph at the top (going up the very middle of Comp). My best speed up Olds has been 21mph.
Stocker except for a CDI box.

I cant make it, what am I doing wrong? Usually me and one kid in with me. Mine is stock with a cdi box and ITP Terracross tires / rims, 7 psi, pretty sure they are 14's. I have tried up the side, etc., and I always run out of steam

7psi is your first problem, You would be amazed at what each 1 pound less would do. But, you should run around 2-4 psi to climb
