I try to get to page 3 and then adobe shuts down....is it my comp or the document? stupid computers..........
jhitesma
Mine's crashing too....and the link in the header isn't the same as the text for the link...and neither of them work sad.gif

Might need a newer version of Acrobat....but the links is just sloppiness...but based on what I've heard is in this plan sloppiness is to be expected >:<
jhitesma
If you right click on the link or save the file from within the acrobat viewer then open it with acrobat directly instead of in a web browser it won't crash.

I'm also downloading the new acrobat 6 right now to see if that fixes the problem.
TysonLB
cool, it works now, thanks. I downloaded version 6 and it still didn't work, but I saved it like you said and I have it now.
SailAway
Sorry about that... I tried it last night and when the first page pulled up fine I didn't worry about the rest. I'm glad you guys got it figured out.biggrin.gif

The TRT is supposed to be our liaison to the BLM in matters surrounding the Fee Demo.

But when they were given this draft, the instructions they received for distributing it to the OHV community were vague. The main concern seemed to be that the numbers were still very much a work in progress.

Please read it with constant reminder that it is only a rough draft and needs plenty of work and you should do fine.

Are copies gonna be handed out next monday?

Yes, but it would be great if people could look it over before then so we can really hash it out.
The past four years have demonstrated beyond doubt that the so-called “honor system” does not generate sufficient
revenue to recover routine recreation program costs. The vast majority of visitors do NOT purchase permits unless they
are personally “encouraged” to do so. Campsite drive-bys should change their focus to campsite visits that focus upon
positive customer-relations
—conversation, information and education—with a permit check representing an after-thought,
a required duty, but not the purpose of the campsite visit. All personnel interactions (from maintenance workers to
Rangers to administrative staff to Law Enforcement Rangers [LEOs]) should emphasize communication, education
and compliance (not “enforcement,” but rather compliance)—to preserve OHV Recreation Areas and to keep permit
prices low.[/

Kinda makes you feel all fuzzy inside don't it?

If you believe the above.... Please call me for pricing on beach front property in Arizona.

Not really, at least not me personally. But a lot of people have asked for more ranger interraction. Rangers doing the warm and fuzzy stuff like talking to the visitors, handing out information, that kind of thing.

One weekend last season I think it was a Forestry truck full of Dept. of Forestry reps that went down vendor row giving out plastic fire hats to the kids and talking to people. The reaction was very strong and really encouraged them to plan on doing it more.

To each their own I guess...

Vicki,
What I was alluding to was the fact that this lip service does not extend to the field. At least it was not my experience last weekend when our camp which was 98% in compliance was harrassed over an adjacent camp that had 0% compliance.

That warm and fuzzy feeling I was speaking of has now turned to nausia.

I absolutely agree. What we cannot continue to accept is empty promises.

And Tres, I've been swamped but I want to know the details of what happened last weekend... that's the kind of crap that has to be addressed right away. Any chance you can send me an email or we can talk on the phone? Will you be there Monday night?

Guys, I also have the plan on the ASA site. There are 2 extra files you need to grab--an XLS file that breaks down expenses by Management Area and a table that breaks down how the permit fees were calculated. I converted a text email from Neil into an HTML page to make it easier to view.

Thanks Greg. I'll post that link over on the DUNERS message board too.

I can't get it to work from there either.
Double G
Very strange. I can read the whole thing with Acrobat 4.0. It comes up just fine when I click on it.

Try the right-click trick and download it to your PC first to see if you can open it that way.

Anybody else having trouble? Maybe I can re-save it in some other Acrobat format.

I just checked the document properties and it's set to allow background download, so if you're on a slow link the pages are still coming down when you are viewing the first page. It also is set for browser integration, so if you are using IE you might want to try the download trick instead.
While not desired, nor intended, if mid-season sales and
compliance are severely lagging projections, the fees can be increased to make up any shortfall based upon the
breakeven analysis for the actual compliance rate—
<edited for content>!

Not even one page into it!
JET
Conversely, if fee revenues exceed projections, BLM staff
can work with the respective user groups to either build up a cushion for future drops in visitation, or to implement highly
desired, on-the-ground services sooner than projected.
No mention of dropping the price at that point.

Campsite drive-bys should change their focus .
hmm drive bys, kinda sounds like south central, wonder if they'll use ak's too?  :grenade:
treshombre
Yes and "focus" is what they are going to do! >:<

Took 8 minutes to print all 53 pages (without a lazer jet) biggrin.gif,

Brought to you by Hewlett Packard biggrin.gif
SailAway
Yeah, and this isn't the completed project! I've heard there are additional pages... charts, that kind of thing... on the way.

Of course, that remains to be seen. If we're forced to wait for the TRT to pass these things along >:<

It will be like every other bad decision made about the ISDRA. You will find out about it as you pull into the dunes.

Same players, different hats, same results.
