Last weekend on are way back from are last ride i was turning with the cutting breaks pretty hard and then i heard a clanking and the car was coasting then i put it in gear and it was like it was in neutral.shiffting feels normal but it just makes a alot of noise in the rear maybe thinking its the ring and pinion?any way my question is my 091 is the regular rear shifting now i came across one but its a side shift how does that work can i just swap the rear part off of mine to the new one or are they totaly different?thanks for any help

If the side shift comes out of the main case you cannot convert it but if it comes out near the front you can replace the shift rods and bearing carrier and it will be front shift. Be sure to check your cvs to make sure you didn't break one.

Dimension wise, the 091 and the 002 are the same width but the 091, I believe, is like 3/8" longer. I just read this on another thread last week. What engine do you have? That will determine my opinion if you should get the 002 or 091.

Update.well after pulling my cv's and axles out they looked good so i started looking around and realized my stub axle would spin and i could hold my rotor on the drivers side.so i pulled them apart and found a bunch of metal shavings on the stub axle and all the splines were gone from the rotor ? i am not sure what happen(it sure was loud like it was a tranny) but i am glad i only had to replace a $55 rotor and not a 091.so i cleaned everything and repacked with grease and just went for a test drive around my block and it feels good.
btw thanks 2.5 king i will keep it in mind my next trip who knows.
