im thining of dropping a tooth on my front sprocket to get alittle more top speed out of my bike. i have an 02 banshee and am looking for something to get me over the 75mph limit without gettin into the motor or major work done to it. a sprocket is not that expensive. has anyone done this to their banshee and what are some pros and cons to loosing a tooth. im just curious if its gonna effect the bottom end alot if i do. will it be a noticable difference or should i not waste my time on that area?
thats for the insight

If you drop a tooth on the front sprocket, you will lose top end and gain more bottom end. You better have some motor work done to your bike if you want to add more top end, because the banshee is a dog on the bottom if you don't.

well see im not talkin bout jumping from 75 to 80 or 85mph im just talking for when im riding across the desert mostly to have it a small noticeable difference. and i wasnt sure when or if i was gonna do it. im mainly tryin to see if someone has done it and if they liked it or was worth doing WITHOUT motor work being done. i know if i do motor work it will help greatly but thats a bit costly and im happy with not dropping alot of money into it yet. the bike os only 2 years old and i wanna go slow on making it wicked fast cuz its gonna be with me for a long time. and i want to add something new each year to it. 1st year was pipes, 2nd was trailtech computer, next is a baja tank and/or lazor stars, then after that well who knows. all i know is motor work is farther down the line.
thanks tho for the info.

If your looking to add just a tiny bit of top end to the quad, leave the front alone. Take 2 teeth off the back sprocket is like adding 3/4 of a tooth up front. That will add a mph or two and still give ya a bottem end.
Personally you should wait till its time for a new chain. Then replace the sprockets accordingly.

actually i didnt even think of that chum. thats a good idea. i think i might hold off. ill just have to lose some weight to go faster. that might be a better too. get my fat a$$ down to a lighter weight will give me those few mphs faster that im lookin for.
