My Rhino seams to be running around 200-210 dagrees while full throttle threw the big dunes. Is ever one else running into this issue? Is there any thing that can be done to lower the temp? My biggest concern is blowing a head gasket.

Let me know your feed back.

It might run 200-205 through the big stuff on warmer weekends like this last one. However, on flat ground or heading downhill, it will drop well below 200. If you notice it go between 205, give a a break for a while. Let it run at idle and let the coolant do its work.

I was driving on sand highway on Saturday without my fan working and going easy on it, the temp stayed around 170.

Does your Rhino have a skid plate on the front bumper. Once we removed or reduced the size of the skid plate the overheatring went away.

Pwr radiator-$395.00 lower your temps big time

I have the same issue, when Im not running hard it will stay around 170-180. But the 210 worries me. I have added the PWR radiator, no skid plate, done every I need to do and still cant get it to run any cooler. It would be nice if some one had a cure for this. It seems like every body I talk to, they say they have over heating problems.
SHOCKER
Letting it idle wont help. There is no airflow through the radiator and the water pump isnt turning fast enough. If it was me i would try an find a nice flat are to just cruise in that way there is air passing through the radiator and then the water pump is pumping faster.

Actually the Rhino is the exact opposite of that. It will cool off when you just let it idle, see that big fan on the front?

Your rhino is getting hot at wide open throttle because the water pump cannot keep up with the coolant flow, so it starts cavatating (like a jet ski that sucks air). Have you ever bled your system? you might have a little air in there. If not and it continues to run hot, go with the PWR setup. It will save you in the long run.

You can also wire you fan dierctly into your ignition switch so your fan is on when you key is on, instead of the Thermostat.

Like shocker said, just cruising around will cool it down also but you can let it sit and leave your key on and let it pull air through the radiator.

Oh yeah, and if you have a skid plate on the front....throw it away.

New water pump would solve it.

does anyone offer a cooler thermostat for the rhino?

CripKnievel
Not sure. But if you have the pwr setup and wire the fan directly, it pulls some serious air. PWR's fan is about 4x better than stock.
Brian B
I do have the PWR combo, but I'm not interested in hard wiring the fan. I've seen too many current draw issues while starting...........

Does anyone know of a way to make the fans come on at a lower temperature? Resistor on the temperature signal circuit?
CripKnievel
Wire it to a toggle switch then. Or run dual batts

I have the bigger pwr radiator and my motor is a 686 and it also ran around 210 because I had to run it on the floor all the time. My cure was running the paddles with smooth buffs. My rhino runs cooler because it doesn't have to run as hard, it is floating on top of the sand not powering through it . I now can run about half throttle.

This makes alot of sense. Hope to prove you right in about 2 weeks

Potsie, will be in wash 3 at Glamis for Pres. day with a couple of other paddle set-ups we are trying. i think naughty is camping with us. You will love the set-up, don't know anyone who hasn't.

No, and I have a PWR radiator. However, it was not working at the time either. So being air cooled it ran at the temps I described. Moving was the key. Everytime I went downhill, the temp lowered much more.

Crip hit the nail on the head. I've cured many an overheating problem by bleeding the system. There's a little bolt on top of the water neck. open it up, start it up, let all the air piss out. It doesn't cost a thing.
WOTM
PWR radiators make a big difference. I think they need to be wired on a switch to run full time too in the dunes.

I agree with wiring a switch that way you have more control. And I will be trying Dunatics theory with the paddle tire set up next week. Hope it works.
