I'm not Bobby Boucher.....so what are the Home Water Conditioner systems worth a shit these days?

House does not have a system, my city won't allow a New Salt System, unless it regenerates brine offsite?

I'm looking at the first two mostly...Wanna get this off my plate before the season starts LOL

Salt-free water conditioners (Template-Assisted Crystallization or TAC)
Salt-based water softener (if there is one that will comply with my city rules)

Reverse osmosis (RO) systems (not really an option, unless you prove to me otherwise).

Cheers!

I have a Culligan setup. It has 4 filters in total and I really like it. Its about 95 a month and I think that included the install of the system.

I'm learning all about these now... My neighbor goes on vacation, and I see water coming down his driveway last night. I try to turn off at the softener and the lever breaks. I have to shut off water to house. garage flooded. People are coming to stay at his house this week while they are gone, but cant turn on water until I receive a new valve to troubleshoot the original problem... What a pain in the ass!!! Rant over

Culligan may still have an exchange program where they recharge the media tank offsite. That's the one I wanted to do. $95 a month on top of the water bill is tooo much for my blood but under the right circumstances, I can see the value.

why not just buy a salt system and put it in yourself. Why do you need the cities approval?
@Crusty exactly. Drive to Az pick one up, take it home install it can't be that hard it's just plumbing the easiest trade of them all. Only thing you need to know is
Hot on the Left, Cold on the right, shit flows downhill payday is on Friday and don't chew your nails.

My parents had soft water at their house. I hated how slimy it made you feel, like you couldn't get the soap off!
I have nothing to offer but just my experience with it!
LOL

Yeah, How could they tell what you installed? do they have the water police going around?

I'm on well water and have a salt system, my wife gets headaches when the salt is out--believe me

if she even hints at having a headache I run to the garage to see if I was a slacker. if fact I better go check it when i get home tonight!
