Slappy Racing and the EPO presents
THE GLAMIS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
May 1st, 2009

You could feel the heat in the air.  Not the weather, but from the anxiety of the riders.  As the sun rose, quads and bikes began to pull into the base camp.  One by one they rolled in until base camp was littered with beautifully sculptured machines glistening off the morning sun.  This was a day that would test the best of the best.  The GNC we call it; the final show.  This is where the best riders would compete against each other for the ultimate crown, the title of CHAMPION and to wear the #1 jersey.  The GNC matches the top ten finishers from the first 3 EPO’s of the seasons, ultimately meeting at the final, the GNC.  It would be held in the Springtime; time for blooms, time to crown a champion.

With three nights and days of hard shifting winds prior to the event, the dune layout was very dangerous; sharp razors and very steep faces.  This made for a tough but technical track.  The best way to have a good run was to learn the track at a slow pace during practice, and then be consistent, smooth throttle control during your run.  You could tell from the first rider that a perfect run was the only way to have a good showing.  Mistakes could drop you from 5th to 10th in a heartbeat.
