Haven't really done much since the crash, but here's how she sits now: The LM7 and 4L60E are waiting to drop in, but delays with parts combined with my complete lack of time to do anything means I didn't get it ready prior to Summer Jeeping. But, if I'm gonna limp the 4.SLO though another season in the mountains, cooling needs addressing ASAP. Biggest issue with XJs is the mechanical fan does mostly okay for higher RPM operation, but doesn't flow chit at low RPM (where my Jeep spends a lot of time working hard). Since it's almost always towed somewhere (never towing) and you can always slow down a little, I switched to an e-fan for it. Biggest bum…

Did this a little while ago but never got around to posting it. My 05 f250 came with the wonderful hard rubber steering wheel, it was worn down smooth as glass, and cold as heck in the winter. After unsuccessfully checking EBay for a decent stock leather wheel, I came across the Grant 52105. It’s basically a rebuilt OEM wheel. Only works for trucks with cruise control, not steering radio controls. Installation was pretty easy. I was able to get the old one off without a puller and it installed with no issues. It’s much better than my old one. More comfortable and looks nicer. The different contour took a little getting used to but I’m happy w…

Anyone own or use to own a Hummer H3? Any opinions or info about them? They seem to be pretty affordable for its capabilities, especially when comparing to Jeep. Parts look to be easily available being that it’s all GM. Not much aftermarket available, but not sure how much is needed? Looking for something that can be towed behind the RV, off road capable, yet still comfortable on the road.

Been a few since I've done a tech thread. One of the simplest upgrades to do to any Duramax is the caterpillar engine oil filter. It's $20 for the adapter and they even have them on Amazon. Not only are the filters a lower micron then the factory GM filters they are alo half the cost. I buy in bulk, usualy 6 at a time, for around $20 shipped. When I did my 2006 LLY the filter adapter was just a double threaded nipple and I had to use a plumbers nipple tool for removal of the factory piece and install the new one. Seems like GM got smart and made the factory nipple on my 2014 LML a socket end for easy removal. The new adapter is installed with a 1/2" drive exten…

If you ever go to flush out your cooling system dont forget that most of us have filters for the hose tap. Should help a little? Im excited to switch my old 7.3L over to some ELC. Its like running rotella oil in a quad. (i prefer delo but most people will get the rotella analogy)

These mofos are still placing a screen that is only slightly larger than my phone! Ford and Dodge have screens the size of an iPad. As much as I wanted to shift away from Ford to GMC, I'm pulling the trigger on a '22 Limited F150. #chevysucks #gmcsucks Save y0re whining and complaining for a bldrinker pit bull thread or a cookie "I love getting r4p3d by California government" thread. kthanxbye

My wife wants to part with her beloved excursion and get a dodge magnum. I know the v6’s were problematic and arent an option for us anyway. We are lookin for either an r/t or srt8 ya ya we dont care about mileage. Any known issues or input is appreciated. Were all r/t’s/srt8’s all wheel drive? is the 50/50 hp/tq increase worth it for the srt8? Seems they fetch an extra 10k$ i know 08 is a special year with diff console and front clip and only made 239 srt8’s anyone selling? unlimited budget depending on the right vehicle

My 2001 F250 7.3 died while driving it. The motor just quit running while driving. I was able to get it off the road. I would crank it and it would run for a few seconds and then die. Sometimes it would crank and not start. Any ideas on stuff I can check at home before I tow it to a shop? I don't have any diagnose software to check parameters.

I’ve had 4 vehicles ceramic coated now and people ask me why I spend the money. Well, here’s why. I had the truck done over 5 years ago when it turned 10 years old. I’ll admit I haven’t kept up on it like I should have since then but it’s done it’s job and last month it paid for itself when my truck got into an argument with a tree helping a good buddy move into his new house. Backing a 26’ enclosed trailer into his very steep and narrow angled driveway, I didn’t realize what was happening on my blind side. This was the result... The coating took the damage and not the paint. Here’s after the decontamination service and reapply on that same bedside. Not bad for…

Against my better judgement I bought a 2015 F150 Lariat 4x4. It was a great deal or so I thought. I fixed all of the issues I could find. Again “or so I thought “ Went outside yesterday to get my mail and noticed a big puddle under the truck. Turns out it was coolant. Tracked it back to some crazy Y fitting That is connect to the radiator and the top end of the motor. I Can honestly say I’ve never seen this set up before. Since discovering the puddle I have read that it’s an issue common to that year. Has anyone here had any success with aftermarket parts? If so I would appreciate a point in the right direction. Since I still owe on it taking it out to the desert and putt…

Im thinking about consolidating vehicles. I have a jeep and a back up suv that im thinking of selling and getting A gen 1 sequoia 4x4 as an overland toy. My understanding 01-04 are 240hp and 4 speed manual shifting transfer case w/neutral 05-07 are 285hp and 5 speed. Manual shift transfer case 07+ are all push button 4wd I really have my eye on a clean 2002, i prefer 05-06 but want some info -i have been told the 4 speed tranny had some issues? Is this true -since the transfer case has a neutral, can i flat tow this without burning up the trans (lots of conflicting information. Some say yes, some say no) -how do these perform of…

New post about the muffler on the second page I recently "bullet proofed" my truck and am looking for a tuner / monitor for it now. I had a SuperChips tuner for my 7.3 that just had the basic tunes - stock, tow, tow safe, tow performance, and hi-performance. That was easy enough to use but I wouldn't mind something a little more, I don't know, tunable now? Main thing is being able to see my temps and gaining a little more performance when towing. I don't currently have a travel trailer, but will be in the market later on down the road. I tow 16 to 30 foot trailers for work, sometimes a couple of states over even, moderately loaded. Would love something that ha…

What are you guys doing to fit your rides in your trailer? It’s looking like the easiest thing I can do to fit mine is buy some stock wheels with low pro tires for loading and unloading. Not ideal but I guess it will work. Just wondering what you guys have done to clear rear beds. Maybe you guys have a better idea?

I bought this truck new in October of 2010, and I've always thought about doing a Solid Axle Swap (SAS) on it. For years it towed my 5'ers, so going big and SAS didn't make sense, and it wasn't in the budget anyway. Ever since we moved over to RVs though, it's mostly just been a weekend driver, or used to move bumper-pull trailers around. Recently I decided to use it as my "Overlanding" rig, and installed a Fourwheel Campers Hawk pop-up in it: Now, I debated a lot about buying a new rig for this job. I was considering new RAM Power Wagons, or maybe a new Ford F250 Tremor with the 7.3 "Godzilla" gasser. Both …

Thinking about a hand held radio that I can use in the Jeep or MoHo. A lot of people still have cb's and some have other radios. What have you found common on the trail? A decent hand held cb is $100+- A dedicated radio is $200? (vhf/uhf) Suggestions? Main use would be on the trail to talk to others in line and some distance back to camp.

My F350 was parked in front of my house when it was stolen. My neighbor knocked on my door and informed me he heard some sawing at wee hours of morning but when he looked out his window he saw a guy climbing into a black sedan driving away and didnt get a plate. My damn camera was not pointed out to street as it only covers my front door and driveway. Neighbors cameras are pointed in similar fashion and they did not capture the Aholes. What have you guys done to protect the Cats on your vehicles?
