Some of you may remember my last run of Cars. Last season was 4 different Funco's for me. Pretty much had a car on my flatbed every trip, coming or going from camp or storage. I ended up with a car I have always wanted and one I felt would check all my boxes after owning a newer G52 and an early light Hustler. The first trip with the car sealed the deal and it was smiles for miles. Second day with the car was unfortunate. Dogs in third gear were gone and i could not keep it in third without it popping out under load. Finished the season in a camp chair with ideas running thru my head. Decided I wanted the best of several worlds and to take what I liked it all those…

Well I thought I would take the season off from having a funco but the kool aid was just to good so I started another gen 4 conversion, but with all the hype that a subi gen 4 would be a faster dunner then any LS funco I have had I figured why not giving it a try this time around hoping to have it finished by mlk weekend

For many years I have drooled and looked at these bad ass cars. That blown LS sound. The G42 that Airboom Ron built is what started this desire. Following @DZRTRUN through the dunes made me want it more. Just ruined me. Finally I can say I will own one, This season. Thanks to Grant for all the support and making this a reality. The people who helped me get an idea and design. @dbart for his creative mind for my original idea. My buddy @tjZ06 and @Hondajimz for instigating me and ensuring I can pull this off. And there are others. Thank you... Plus the numerous flips I did to make it happen, the long days of sales and hustlin! I can say I have lost sleep think…

This chassis was well used, its #02 and some one got a lot of dune time and forgot to tighten the suspension bolts regularly. There was a lot of wear and you can see signs of repair to the pivots. So we decide to cut them all off and put brand new Funco pivots back. We added a tube here and there for some added strength. The car is getting a rolled roof like the Gen 6, new one piece skid plate, inside floors front & rear, Rancho went through the 2D, Outfront is doing an inspection and some basic maintenance on the C&G Subi, brand new Gray Area front and rear hubs, all new tires, Jason at Next Level is doing the sheet metal - 3D roof, noise cover, full dash, inside…

My good friend Justin had introduced me Erik (very stand up guy)who sold me the Funco that was all original minus the LS3 swap. After my very season I decided to take it a part and do a makeover. This is what it looked like when I took possession.

As I have been sitting here looking and waiting. What are the different models of Funco's? Obviously they had they old school bus looking one (Gen1) then gen 2, gen 3, then Gen 4, Gen 5, Gen 6, Hustler(s), GTU, GTX, GTF, Enzo, the F9 and I am sure there are others, but what makes each of those that model. What are the differences?

Joined the Funco Family. @Grease Monkey took the wife for a ride Regatta weekend and she remembered how much she missed having a buggy so we went and picked this up immediately afterwards. Our last buggy was ~15 years ago and was a VW beam car... Listing was: 20062 Funco Hustler SSE 4 seat (#15) 420 horse Redline Northstar w/ MEFI, Mendeola 2-D, 930s, two-tube bypass Kings, radio & intercom with 4 head sets, 2 owner, factory built, professionally maintained, and super clean. Car is pretty much a time capsule... gages, lighting, etc. all original. Original paint still there but previous owner updated panels with some black vinyl. Went through the car …

The stock uniballs for the rear suspension are exposed and go away quickly if you put a lot of miles on your car. This was maybe 3 seasons. Outfront John sells a set of 8 seals that pop in there. I put a little grease in there and it appears it should work just like a wheel bearing seal. With much less movement. I believe they will last MUCH longer without getting exposed.

I thought for sure I had a thread on here about the car, but I guess not. I don't have a ton of pics/vids on this computer, so I'll make this a quick one (well, by TJ standards ;) ). I bought the car at the start of the '20/21 season, and it looked like this (complete with two-story roofline and idler chirp): FWIW I got it with the trailer in the vid which it drives right in on the paddles. This car is an original Funco built/titled G52, and as such is the "narrow" car. Still, both paddles touch the door-seals as you bring it in on a 96-97" door. The car actually first hit the sand sometime in '15, and was only used 'til about '17 when the original ow…

Well after many years of being allowed to drive and living through my knee grow @Grease Monkey and all his Funco's, the dream became a reality. In the Funco family This is the brother to his current car that just got the re-do other than power plant and trans. We believe the car was originally built with a v8 per build sheet from funco Its a J35 turbo (low boost) with a 2d. Dont have a lot of experience with the Honda but am excited to learn so you Honda guys can be sure ill be full of questions.. @Kraut_n_Rice These Honda's have some long legs and the car handles amazing. There will be a short list of upgrades. Full prep, whole new radio kit as t…

In my OCD I was searching. I wanted to find a nice car for my wife and a backup for my trips. I really should not of bought another car but it's an addiction. My good buddy @Hondajimz knew of the car and I made an offer after speaking to the owner numerous times. A good friend of mine handled the logistics and brought it out to me . I will say this cream puff ran great, looked even better in person. Surprisingly it gave me no issues, love a turn key car with plenty of power. I am going to send it in for a rendition, so my wife can personalize it to her liking.

Grant/Chad found me a set of paddles, but no luck on the front tires Anybody have a set of Mickey Thompson Baja pro 15” 33 shaved front tires? Well, I found the wife a car! Excited to get it back out in the sand it needed some Unexpected work. uggggggg! When I purchased the car, I noticed the front and was seriously neglected and I knew I had to repair I ended up having to rebuild the whole front end, including all new heims and adding weld washers. The repair went flawless. After I got the front end complete it was time to test the car! The wife wanted to passenger in the car at first just to get the feel for how it operated. Right off there was no…

I have the 2d out of my Gen 4 for service and I brought home a S4 mock up from McMullen out here in Phoenix. This Gen 4 is an original V8 2d 930 car and I wanted to see if the S would fit. Here is a photo of why it doesn’t fit basically the back tube would have to be cut out of the car. I am not sure what the difference between this car and an original S4 car is but they are different. If that tube wasn’t there. The S would literally bolt into the car. Hopefully someone finds this helpful.

I have never done a build thread and since everything got wiped out I thought I would do one on our current project. I picked up this car as a spare last season and the project started almost immediately and has been ongoing. Car started out as a 4 seat Gen 4 with 934’s, S5S and a Danzio Brutus motor. In my infinite wisdom I decided to put a 4.5 liter whipple on my 11:1 stroker motor and put the boost at 14 psi on E85. I took it to Turnkey and then Funco to cram the whipple in the car. Grant told me it was a bad idea but if we are going to do it let’s do it right. So we took the back seats out and put the big tank and the gen 6 radiator in the car. He then said …

Need some guidance / Pictures for changing out a 2d to a S4/S5 Transaxle. I reached to to @onanysunday and asked him for pictures of his conversion that were lost in the change over. He suggested that I ask on here so that he could re-share them with everyone if others are in need.

Hey all, Over summer I decided that I will do an LS swap into my Gen4. I have already purchased the LS1, it is complete out of another running sand car. Nothing special, stock LS1 with Painless harness, corvette computer running all sensors, Painless fuse block and relays, OBDII port, Intake with MAF, headers, adaptor plate and clutch. Should be easy for the most part. This is my list of things to Fab or Change - Engine mounts to be fabbed Coolant Lines to be fabbed Replace Bosch -6 fuel system with Aeromotive -8 (A1000, pre/post filter, regulator and all new -8 fittings/hose) Weld in -4 bung in coolant purge tank for LS steam port line …

Hey all, So tonight, I was looking at the car and it had a bit of gangsta lean to it. As I looked closer, my driver rear bag looks crooked. The bag perch doesn't look crooked to me, but something is a mis. Thoughts?

Ok, I’ve had a Gen 3 all these years. Just got a Gen 4 and it’s time to take things apart. Got the trailing arms off, had to use a sawzall as two of the bolts had welded themselves to the bushings. On to the Cv’s. Got them out, soaked in diesel, and wiped down. Not super impressed with how they look, but I may be able to squeeze another season out of them before replacing. The hubs; got most of it apart. Got the CV body out and the bearing that it goes onto it. got the inner piece that it bolts to out and wiped down as well. Pulled the 5 bolts that hold the housing to the trailing arm and thought maybe it’d just pop out like everything …
