^^^^^^^AWESOME!!! That little rig has been everywhere. The pics at the bottom of The Slide are sweet. That was our hangout for a long time right up until it was shut down. Good times back then!!!!

Since my TJ is almost done, I've been considering doing a build on an old flatty..truly neat little rigs!!!!

Thats a good Jeep. I don't know if you have had one before, but the coil springs greatly improved the ride quality.

You have the I-6 in that too.

looking around, doesnt seem to be a 'jeep pics' thread in the 'truck and JEEP tech' area here so lets get it goin!

this is ol' flakey. 93 ZJ 4.0L 42RE 242 factory 3.73s and rear LSD. 3" lift with pro comp chromo lowers front and rear. 5100s all around. rear sway bar fell off. front sway bar disconnects. JKS adjustable rear track bar. RE heavy duty adjustable front track bar. V8 ZJ steering linkage. 31" falkens on 15" eagle wheels. it aint much but ive beat on it pretty good so far n goes places i didnt expect. the jacked up paint is kind of nice as i dont give to craps about scratching it up off road. next mods are going to be chassis stiffeners and sliders.

heres what it looked like when i bought it for $400 with a smoked transmission:

Damn John, that thing is a great wheeler now! you get some good articulation out of that 3" kit! what all is involved in that kit? just adjustable arms and springs? how are the road manners? I am starting to get some serious death wobble with mine, and been thinking of getting adjustable IRO arms if the bushings are shot. I have a set of 4" springs off of my bosses LJ. where are you going to buy the chassis stiffeners?

they are fixed lowers and springs. i have a 3/4" spacer on top of the rear coil to level it since i always carry my jack and CO2 tank system in the back along with a 31" spare. road manners are OK but since the steering box is tired and i took out the rear sway bar, it does wander a bit and the front coils are a bit stiff. as far as the death wobble, check the upper and lower arm bushings and especially the front track bar bushings and ball joint. you need to get a quality track bar up front when you do the arms and springs so might as well do it all at the same time ;) i picked up the rubicon express part at ORW.

id really like to go clayton long arms with some soft ride rubicon express coil springs but im not sure the long arms are a good idea for ground clearance with only 3" of lift (i do not want to go any higher).

dunno yet on the stiffeners but been looking at the ones from tnt customs

Here is my 95 YJ. It has a smog legal Vortec 350, 4L60E trans, Dana 60 in the rear and a Dana 44 in the front both with detroit lockers. Tires are 35" Goodyear MTRs. It has a Warn 9K winch plus a laundry list of other stuff. Its a lot of fun!!

I jacked her all up and checked all the bushings, bearings, ball joints, and they are good, I rotated the tires and death wobble stopped, and I can now feel a hop in the rear so I have a tire out of balance. tires are pretty much shot anyway so I will get some new ones here in the next week or two, and get it Aligned. Just put some hercules terra tracs on my truck and they are pretty good so far (very similar to toyo open country t/a). might put a set on the jeep too.

John, with that much lift did you see a need to adjust any of your driveshafts? I gotta get a new front shaft, so its either replace it with a factory unit for now, or spend more and get a double u joint and flange conversion now. just worried it may not work with future mods

anyone have experience with the tom woods conversion kits? I can get the flanges myself and have a shaft custom built locally for about 350$ at east county driveshaft.

didnt have to do anything to my driveshafts. i made sure when i was looking for my zj that i bought one that had NO cv jointed shafts anywhere on it. nice reliable u-joints on the drive shafts and front axle shafts here with the 242 t-case

mine has that really sweet double cv drive shaft and the cv's are shot, its cheaper to buy a double ujoint conversion shaft/flange set up, then reuild the stocker with new cv's. i've had my eye on a used stocker in oside for 40$ though. get me through another winter.
