onanysunday
Playing on the dyno to start programming the trans. (Very light load) Seems like the file is corrupted and the lock up converter is not wanting to cooperate. Email sent out to the computer people. I have pretty much hit a wall with this car. Piece of burnt toast. I am done. Don't even want to look at it. Today pulling into Costco I got pulled over and given a ticket for registration expired by 3 months on my truck. Never even knew it. I normally would never let something like this happen. My life is so strung out from trying to run my business and build this car for the last 10 months. Really don't care right now. onanysunday
Been researching all of the different jack options. Don't really care for scissor jacks. Think I am liking the Toyota bottle style double extension screw jack. Part number 0911160131 fits the 4 runner, FJ Cruiser and Lexus GX460. Then weld up a pad with some rubber to put on top. Have our upholstery guy make a nice carry bag for the jack, some jumper cables, and a small assortment of tools.
onanysunday
Guess I couldn't stay away from it for very long. My Toyota Jack idea is not going to work. It is 8 inTall and I have five and a half inches at the front frame rail. About six and a half in the rear. Looks like a nice scissor jack will be going in the bag. onanysunday
Been tinkering off and on with the engine cover project for 6 months. Originally masked it and sprayed the letters. Then after painting the misty rootbeer it bled slightly and was not perfect. So I bought a genuine Mack squirrel hair pinstripe brush and touched it up. Pretty happy with it. Can't imagine the skill level it takes to pinstripe lines on paint. Still need to put some small filters on each rocker cover breather. I did have to notch the cover a little larger for the fuel line. Fuel pressure gauge has also been removed. Had to prime all the plastic with special primer before paint. onanysunday
One of the next projects is to install the other AC compressor and build AC lines.
onanysunday
Fresh air system came out really good. If we are going to do a Hot Rod power tour and drive in the rain I will need to build some kind of removable water deflector to keep the K&N filter dry. Haven't quite figured that one out yet.

richard h
You have done a ton of beautiful work on this car. Still when I look back at the start (gasser) another fun build would have been to put it on the street. Very very nice job! Congratulations!

Power tour itself is 1300 miles but to get to and from and other detours probably 4000-5000 total miles. Mine has never seen rain since I have owned it.
onanysunday
1962 Vette that Chip Foose is building. So bad ass. I would guess this is a seven figure build. Can only imagine the man hours in this car. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Reminds me I have some door gaps to set. That will be a project. Still burnt and don't want to work on it. Maybe soon. Remember the Bitchen rides episode when they did the Mercedes Gullwing. IIRC he had said 3 months straight doing fiberglass. Not thanks! I bet you would just get used to it. Not in Phoenix in the summer though. Yuck.

The SMC stuff (sheet molded compound)is not as bad as the 1982 and prior stuff. I used to hate building/replacing front ends on early Vetts. Though it did pay extremely well.
onanysunday
All that work many months ago redoing the holes for each letter paid off. No more factory wonkiness.
onanysunday
Steering wheel finally came in from Al Knock. Of course all of the edges are razor blade Sharp so it will all need hand de-burred
onanysunday
Wilwood electric emergency brake kit. This should be a fun project. Pretty nice kit. Get rid of that factory handle under the dash and the cable that runs back there.
onanysunday
It won't have upholstery but I'm thinking about doing a full-on thrash to take this out to Good guys Weekend of November 19th. Crap ton of work to get it ready. That is one way to get motivated again.

Rockwood
Will the jack fit inside the rim?
onanysunday
5 hours ago, Rockwood said: Will the jack fit inside the rim? I will have to check that out. Good idea. All the parts in the emergency brake kit fit pretty nice. Now I just need to wire all of it which will be a project. The electric motor and servo for the emergency brake portion is pretty long so it has to be mounted low to clear when the suspension goes up. Rear tires are rubbing on the inner fender panels when the four link articulates. Need to figure out how much of a spacer and try bring the wheel out just a little bit. Wondering if a quarter inch will do it.
onanysunday
Well this was a project I was not expecting. Realized when the four link articulates the tire going up into the wheel well travels towards the body. It was rubbing on both sides. So today I messed around shimming it out far enough to where it just kisses the body. But then on the outside it is going to hit the fender before full compression. No bueno. My dad likes the old 15-in wheels and that look. Maybe someday I will change it to something different but for now these tires won't work. Has 255/70-15s. They don't make a 245 wide tire so we are going to put on some 235/70-15s. Certainly a smaller footprint. I believe around 3/4 of an inch narrower which hopefully will work. And an inch shorter. Today I cranked a little over half an inch into the rear springs to bring the ride height up for the new shorter tires. See how close I can guess.
onanysunday
Oh and the exhaust is hitting the top of the rear end on one side before full compression as well. Need to drive it and see if it wants to hit. If so that will need some attention. Need to make a new bracket for the emergency brake module. And need to cut apart the entire wiring harness and redo it. Ugh. Thought I was done with wiring.
Bobalos
Remember if it was easy, any a.z.z-holio would be doing it. For sure not many could get close to where you are with this thing!!!!!
