Led Lights - Converting

Recommended Posts

Today we bought 2 LED lights at WallyMart for 15.00 just to test them to see if we liked em in the trailer. Wow- so nice to have a bright white vs. the yellow of the standard bulbs. This moved way up the list of things to do. 99% of the camping we do is dry camping so the power savings will be huge.

Tons of options online - seems like we can replace all of the coach interior lights + get two bright ass mofos for the rear loading lights and porch light for 30.00. Any recommendations for brands to use or stay away from?

We really, really like the ones from m4 products here on GD. The lights we got from them so far are of high quality construction and they really put out a bright light and have lasted a couple years so far with no issues.

$10 each for m4 LED vs less than a dollar each for ebay LED bulbs that are just as bright? i'll stick with ebay LEDs. 3 years running and not a single failure in two different trailer conversions.

Like I said I have both guaranteed side by side the M4 is brighter and heavier you can see the quality.

We're going to buy a mix of the cheap ones and the good ones and will report our findings.

X3 M4 hands down. Have done the amazon and ebay lights and the M4 has been the brightest.

Well it's not a tannig bed so who cares how bright it is. Ten times the price isn't worth it.

I'll have to look at the cheap ones. I wanted to convert but $12-15/bulb seems a little steep for me. Thanks for the info QG/KG

I will take a pic of the difference between the traditional bulb and the led tonight.

The total # of lights we need is 16 to convert. I'd pay more for the super bright for outdoor bulbs (porch and back loading lights) but the cheap ones prob ok for interior lights.

Saturday, my buddy Roger showed me some bayonet type LED bulbs that were outstanding.

Price seemed right..

I'll call him and see what's available..

Stay tuned..

LEDs don't need reflectors, so get the lolypop or plate style ones instead of round:

5050 or larger are the only way to go. 3528s are going to be super dim and good for mood-lighting only. :sraptor:

Here is my take, I have a bag full of cheap e-bay bulbs that failed. Some failed so bad, that I was worried that they could have caught my trailer on fire as they got hot and came un-glued. I have M4 and Rigids in my trailer now. I could leave one of those on for weeks at a time with out worry, I would never do that with an e-bay bulb.. Funny but both Rigid and now M4 are getting copied and done poorly.. Buy right, one time..

Here you go queen.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-Warm-White-T10...=item3cee90f2d7

$17.98 for 10 of them. $1.78 each. I have used and installed about 50. Each fixture will take 2.

These are bright as hell.

Not intending to hijack the thread, but looking at the ebay ad, you put (2) of the LED panels into each fixture? I'd like to see them installed. Couldn't you use just 1? Can't you just install an LED bulb and not a panel?

I purchased the one in the link above in my old trailer and purchased these in my current trailer. I like these bulbs versus those panels, and in most fixtures I use just one light now instead of both.

I got these from Amazon 2 years ago. I replaced the entire toy box. Inside and out for around $50. They are all still working just fine.
