Very nice Hondo, cool build thread. Right now as I understand it, 4130 tubing and plate are really hard to get and when you do find it, it is outrageously expensive. All thanks to Trumps tariff war with China. I've got my car at the fabricator right now, he told me yesterday he paid over $50 for a stick of 1 1/2 mild steel.

The prices have come down. People just freaked out when he announced that. $50 for 1 1/2" mild steel is a bit high for here in Tucson. Depending on where you buy it. IMS really gouged everybody and used Trumps tariff as an excuse. In reality it should all be pretty close to where it was beforehand. I never use Chinese steel.

I am not sure the tariff even hit yet - But like Hondo said  I would not buy Chinese steel unless it was for fence post.  I just picked up a stick of 1 1/2" .120 wall for $39 at M&K last week. The only thing I have seen a bump in is Aluminum, but that moves around alot at least where I buy from.

I think a few enterprising people will Gouge...

Hondo   BTW on the two seater - how long are you making the rear arm? and what overal width are you shooting for?

The steering shaft and steering support is all done. We are not using a clamp on. We installed a heim and a uniball bearing support instead. I spread them out as much as possible. It is super rigid. We are also using the NRG disconnect. They are slop free and always click in in the same position.

Lots of updates. Still have Thanksgiving on the schedule for shake down. Still waiting on the seats. All the suspension is setup including the sway bar. Engine and trans are installed. Rear cage is built. Hydraulic tainless plumbing is run. Radiator and heat exchanger are mounted.

Looks like a solid beefy build!

One question, on the B pillar... it looks like the roof cross tube is a few inches forward of where the B pillar lines up.  Is there a reason why the cross tube didn't just run across where the b pillars meet?

The roof was done with X member and all. Then the owner wanted the B pillar moved back for more head clearance. He is very tall. I will have to get them to join.

Arvizu Fab in Tucson Arizona. I would say every sand car in our group in Tucson has spent time at his shop. Whether metal work, CVS, or complete rebuilds, he has done it all. Alex is a great guy to work with.

He got a lot of stuff done. Still shooting for next week. We finished the exhaust, dash for now, motor mounts, some side and roof tin, oil coolers, oil pump, fuel pump, fuel tank, some plumbing.  etc etc. Still lots of stuff to complete. The last 10% takes 90% of the time.
