For those of you that use a winch to pull your car in. What winch are you guys using? Do you like the one you have or had bad experiences?

Harbor freight Badlands 6000lb cheap and has worked great.   The 6000lb was discontinued.  The older 6k was built beefier than the ATV style winches.  Series wound motor, auto brake, etc... Cheap remote makes loading soooo much easier.   Only thing I might change is to go to synthetic rope.  The steal cable got bound one time and it was a bitch to get free.

I put a Harbor Freight Badlands 5k winch on my flatbed and it gets a lot of use for my transport business.  Been on there for the past three years and hasn't had any issues at all. I added the $30 Harbor Freight wireless remote last season and it works flawlessly as well.

I also added one to @tjZ06 enclosed trailer a few years ago (also a few trailers ago).  Also mounted to 2" trailer tube with a hitch pin holding it in place.

I put a big ass XRC-8 winch in my enclosed but only because I had it sitting on the shelf.  If I had a HF 5k I would have used it instead.   It's mounted in a base cabinet centered in the trailer.  Used 2" trailer hitch tube so it can be removed and used in a truck hitch if necessary.

Also added a wireless remote to my XRC-8 winch.  $25 on Amazon, 5 minute install.

Use an old HF 3k with a snatch block to help take some of the load off (added more cable as well).  Worked fine for the VW buggy but would probably upsize if I had a larger car. Wireless remote is handy as mentioned so you can steer the car and control winch at the same time.

Flatbed has a Superwinch 8k on a hitch mount

Cheap version of the nice Superwinch setup shown above.  Custom plate I made to allow cable to hook back at winch. Chain on the left allowed for attachment to just about anything.  Used an axle strap around the buggy frame and pulled it up backward.

Snatch block is a Keeper brand https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008N8INGE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
