Has anyone done their own concrete counters? Is it hard to do?

My mom did her own and they turned out great.

Patients and good materials.

30K is Bananas!

I paid 75K to Demo and old yard, build a pool, waterfalls, Water Slide, decking, BBQ island etc. Granted it was 15 years ago but even if all that was 150K now 30K for a BBQ island is insanity. The job also includes the pool Heater and filter with 3 pumps and control panel in the house. There is also an entire side yard of the same stamped concrete decking.

Is it a 45ft long Bbq island?

We build em- avg price is around 600-700plf for island with pour in place concrete counter top. Plus equipment, bbq, sink, doors, etc

Couple things:

1: Thanks for helping me realize I'm not crazy! Still can't get over the pricing from SP.

2: And more important. DeviantDuner and I started a conversation on Sunday, within an hour (no joke) I had a txt and a missed call from his design guy! Called him back (on a Sunday!) and had an appointment the next day! Julian was here when he said he would be. We had a good talk, he has some ideas and said we would hear from him in a few days. Couple txt's on tuesday for some info and we are patiently waiting to see what he comes up with.

Hope we can work something out. I told Tim (DD) I'd rather put some $$ in a duners pocket when I can. We will get a project done in the backyard.

Thanks for all the comments and offers of peeps!

Ill do a thread when things start to change in the yard. Main focus is awnings, bbq area, seating, maybe a fire pit. Extend the outdoor living area.

I have been drooling on their website now for a while! :nag:

Thanks..  :lmao:

For starters...I am not a fan of faux rock...but they have me convinced otherwise! Looks unbelievable.

Most of the time it looks like whatever company, just slaps a big glob of orangeish-redish clay on the deck and makes some bogus lines in it then paints it one color with maybe some shading!

Gentili...not so! Looks awesome. Pretty sure they are out of my league but it would be interesting to talk with them to get an idea of a redo on my pool and backyard.

Thanks for the tip.

You said it... working hard.😂

Not really Brother. I take more time off now than ever. Strange how the love of a good woman can put things in perspective. 😉

The whole SoCal outdoor living thing I feel  is trending in the last few years. The prices have doubled in some areas for  outdoor landscape/hard scape projects. I was involved in a project that a homeowner started and got red flagged by the city. By the time we got an engineer and  architect involved plus the city fees we were 50k into the project, that's not even lifting a  shovel yet! The end result was 560k by the time we exported and imported dirt. This was a  residential house in the mid 3-4 million price range.image.thumb.jpg.01af2e5d856ee3422cfad8172a575aa6.jpg

Can you build this for me?

Our pool is just about complete and we are looking for BBQ set ups. This is perfect.

Also following. I'll be at the Bbq island stage soon. Don't know what to do yet. Probably going to start a new thread on my pool build.

.........don't really remember but let me think.

Maybe $30 in steel studs, $30 in cement board, probably $200-$300 for the stucco guy and material, another $120 for the concrete top (probably less but including stain and sealer and cement, not sure).  I had the sink from a wet bar I tore out of the house and it ties into a clean out that was on the wall it is up against. $20 in gas line.  $100 for the Weber, $500? for the BBQ Galore built in, $40 for the light fixtures, $40 in conduit, extension box and switch/outlet on bbq.

So about $1200 I guess.
