I’m sure  plenty of  companies that manufacture overseas have sweatshops and poor working conditions for its employees.  But at  least they don’t pay some ahole to be a social justice warrior in the US while they take advantage of the poverty in other countries. We only open our eyes sometimes.

If Adidas or another competitor was smart, they'd capitalize on the patriotic market and come out with a whole slew of patriotic themed shoes. They might find an untapped market for athletic shoes. Especially if they market it through social media and don't spend a ton of money of conventional advertising.

Marketing has changed the last 3-4 years a lot, Nike and other companies used to show you athletes making incredible plays on the field, someone running 100 miles, or someone doing some amazing athletic feat that only .2% of the population wants to do (think back to the Jordan and Bo Jackson ads).  Now marketing is about going after your emotions, get you to believe in a moment (or the companies moment).  A perfect example of a company that grabs your emotion is Patagonia( Coke has always been good at this), they do very little direct marketing, but everything you do see is about helping the environment.  Then go on a college campus and kids are wearing their hats and t-shirts proudly even though they are against all motorized sports, our president and all conservative ideologies.  Sit back and watch commercials once in awhile, they grab you by music and try to grab at your emotional strings to hook you, a minute after the commercial you forgot all about the product they were showing, but you might be humming that song and liking that feel good feeling.  Marketing is no longer about the product, it is all about the emotional well being of the company and creating an emotional connection (relationship of sort)

In the case of Nike pulling the product, it is all about grabbing the emotional consumer that is a follower, this consumer is now proud of Nike for standing up for what is "right"?????  Millennials and anti Trump supporters are eating this up, just goes to show you how f'up this country really is...………….
