Paid a new tax on my meal tonight! I've seen it all now!

Recommended Posts

So I took some friends out tonight for dinner and noticed a "ACA" charge on my bill. Yes, a charge for the Affordable Care Act! So apparently,  private businesses can now charge a tax for their employees benefits and call it ACA.  Thoughts?20190730_223233.thumb.jpg.d5810b5375767ef95b898b8cfe868c39.jpg

Thank O-dummer , and his cronie Demi's for the Un-affordable Care Act. Restaurant owners are just passing the cost on. It is getting more and more expensive to have and maintain employee costs, which is why you have and will continue to see more automation everywhere.. If Dems, keep ramming mandated employee benefits down employers throats, companies are  will continue to find ways to automate , and eliminate  the costs of all the BS benefits. And then you will have the never ending cry for higher minimum wage, because all the low skill jobs will be gone.. And the cycle will continue.. Dems just have not figured out  that socialism just doesn't work, and is not a scalable model.. Eventually you will run out of other peoples money to give away.. and then you have total collapse. Looks like you ate well BTW.:lick:

Does not shock me. I doubt that restaurant falls under ACA  though, less its a large chain place? Im sure we will see more of this. Utilities and services pass the taxes onto customers, so must everyone else at some point.

We charge our customers a 7.50$ hazmat fee per invoice. The state says stainless steel is hazardous waste due to its chromium content. All dust, sand blast and shop sweepings must be barreled and hauled off by hazmat service. We have to have a rag service to account for cleaning our piercing/machining fluids (our solvent tank was confiscated years ago) and our scrap must be accounted for by law to prove we dont trash it. Its a hefty cost that must get paid

Am I the only one who noticed somebody didn't eat?  3 appetizers, 2 soups and 1 salad ,3 entrees and 2 deserts Either the wives were sharing or somebody didn't eat.

Yep I asked.  He explained that it was the Affordable Care Act.  Looked it up when I got home, and alot of people are seeing this charge and deducting it from the tip which doesn't really seem fair either.

A's in Newport?  Haven't been there is years - Not sure if the older guy that used to own it is still around but he had some great stories - cool guy!  It was a great place.

I would have no problem deducting it from the tip. Service can go in the toilet and resturant can close and Commifornia can kill another industry. Keep voting Democrat!

We all split the spicy tuna appetizer,

Wife and I each had a Margarita ( Hot n Skinny), split a wedge salad, she had Salmon and I had a block cut New York, Asparagus and mushroom sides split by all.

Other couple ordered a bottle of wine ($135.00)!, 2 soups, and they split a Ribeye.

Buddy and I had a "Dude" after dinner drink, and we all shared the cake.

It was for my best friends birthday. They took us to this place last year for mine.

Yes A's. Place is one of my favorites. Super old school steak house vibe. Sort of a hidden gem that is mostly locals.

Is it really a tax or just a charge the resturant adds on?

If I see this on a bill, I will deduct it from the tip and I will never go back there again.

Smarter if they just hid the 2% in food and drink prices.

I would not deduct it from the Tip. But I would deduct it from the bill unless it is stated in writing that is visible. It is not a tax, it is a restaurant generated fee, that the owner just decided on, and you didn't know about it or had a chance to dispute it prior to it being added.

Agreed.  But I'm tired of having liberal shit thrown in my face.

I suspect it is a charge.  When minimum wage goes up, I bet that they will add a wage surcharge.  I suspect that the owner is conservative and wants to show people why the prices just keep going up.  I think that a wage surcharge would be deducted straight from the tip by many customers, since the server is now making more and the prices have risen.  Others will simply choose to go out less, and more small businesses will close.

Also could be one way for business owners wishing  to show public what is really happening.

Tough to not have liberal shit thrown in your face these days, especially in California.  Just be glad it is not literal shit thrown by a bum.

If it's some charge added on I can't see how you have to pay it. I ordered food not health care.

Look at all your utility bills and all the extra charges they put on the bill, this doesn't surprise me, I am pretty sure I am paying for the employee's Union dues now????  Is it a flat fee or a %?  Wonder how they are calculating it?
