I'm thinking of 2 members who have bragged about their prowess with sand rails, but I'll just keep that to myself and see if they post here.

I am most definitely not the guy to teach driving school.

I have finished in the top ten twice at the local tuff truck buggy event at the San Diego county Fair. First time was in my 64 aja,,second time in my current ride fourseater chenowth. Races are a s is itingle lap timed event one car at a time best of three laps wins 1,000$ cash. Usually about 20 entries in the not street legal class. I swear they build the track to break stuff and to stop u from going fast.

I have been the lead buggy in our group for the last 5-6 seasons and stress alot about making the ride exciting  and not too fast for everyone else in line. I don't get to relax until we reach our destination, but enjoy picking the lines more than when I hear complaining about how rough or shitty it was getting to the hill...

i guess it depends on where you are, at Dumont i have ran the same area in a long travel buggy for 10 years going faster and faster and know the area like the back of my hand so i am crazy fast and stupid there think one of the faster drivers or fastest at Dumont

at glamis i do not know it very well and slow as a turtle,

Best of the best here. Driving a a car that 18 years old pin it. When in dought throtle out. Lol reality is I drive to have a good time with my passengers. Can I go harder yes but having people puke in the car is never good.

I’m so far in front that I’m behind. There’s a picture of me somewhere at the drags where I was timed at a negative 2 seconds on a pass.

I don’t even bother turning off the motor of my tow rig when I arrive at the dunes, hit up all the spots, slam some brew, jock da hoes then load up and I’m gone. I once took off a back tire and the steering wheel in the dunes to even things up.

I consume mediocrity and excrete excellence.

I guess if keeping it on it's wheels and keeping a smile on my face qualifies then I'm #1.

In my book at least.

Posted (edited)

My first trip across the dunes was on the historic "Plank Road" near Highway 8.

We were in a covered wagon, and to tell the truth, I was not driving.

However, 10 years driving S.C.O.R.E. taught me a lot, (Best finish 8th overall) and my Glamis driving started in 1960.

I was only invited to drive in one E.P.O., but finished 19th out of 29 in my air cooled FUNCO.

Truth is, I was the fastest air cooled buggy out there.

So I claim to be the best driver ever.. (The older I get, the faster I was)
