Air filter box ideas

Recommended Posts

Looking for ideas on a filter housing. Looks like I will need to use 2- 90° elbows to avoid  my wing trunk. Interested in some pics or ideas.

Where can I find one? Are there supports by the filter elements?

I had it custom made.

No supports from the end of the elements.

Supports from the tube that run down and bolt to the block.

Would have to be large radius. Lots of potential for cracks with weld joint bisecting leverage/tube scarf

Keep it away from the exhaust. My buddies was about 2" from his exhaust and when he changed it he saw a 30HP increase on the dyno. Hot intake air...no good.

We going to see that beast in the sand this season?  I don't like building big engines unless they're getting used!  Not to mention all the prep work I did on that car.

Yes Definitely..Still a work in progress but Curt(crb) is making some time to do some sheet metal work and then I can run it..Still has a bit of fabwork to finish but will make a bunch of trips this season..Also I think it's still running rich so have to get it back on the dyno at Danzio to fine tune ..

So here's a question I haven't seen asked...

What motor/intake/turbo combo are you running?  That might help.

Mine that I posted is on a 2.5 turbo Subi.  It's a 2 to one intake.  It really cuts down on the sand intake and the filters look barely used by the end of the season.  The guy who had the car before me and who made the intake did it to help eliminate the possibility of ingesting sand.
