Price per Sq Ft - Real Estate Market where YOU live?

Recommended Posts

Price per Sq Ft - Real Estate Market where YOU live (Yore House).

We always hear about the Real Estate Market in CA.

One gauge of the Market is the price per square foot you are paying for your home. Yes, there are allot of factors that go into why a home is priced as it is, but what do you feel is Fair Market?

We just entered Escrow on a Home that is priced at $287 sq ft - I felt we did pretty fair in the SOCAL House market in 2019.

So post up your numbers like this...House I'm buying and last house I sold...

Claremont, CA - $287 sq ft bought 2019 :deal:

Covina, CA - $260 sq ft bought 2003    /   Sold 2016 @ $460 sq ft    :wash11:

People who inherited their parents house, etc...you don't get to play this game

New house on water is $259 sq ft.

Not expensive in terms of CA out here in the boondocks :)

Bought our townhome in El Cajon 2016 for $212 sq ft. Sold 2019 for $243 sq ft.

Bought new house for $278 sq ft.

We were buying and selling simultaneously so we didn't have the option to wait for market swings.

East Bay. Nice area, but not the best.  No homeless and not much crime.   No idea what SF or South Bay is at these days, but gotta be double where I am.  Tech industry making housing prices ridiculous.

Bought 5.5 years ago at $240 sq ft, redfin says now $358 sq ft. I'm sure it's going to dip down though, elections has always played a part in slow down.

5 years ago was $310 recently appraised $580.

Few blocks over they start at $700 and go up.

Was at a jobsite in Manhattan beach other day. They paid $5 million for the house tore it down and building a new one.  Not the good part of Manhattan either.  No ocean view few blocks over from north Redondo.

Prices are crazy in the south bay. Working on a rental today in Lawndale.  2 bed 1 bath maybe 800 sq ft. No yard share a garage $2000 month rent.

Home prices are dipping again.

We've been looking at homes in Valencia and Santa Clarita over the past 6 months and I've seen an obvious decline.   Based on what I'm reading, it sounds like we're in for another crash which is great because I get to keep the house I'm in now as another rental without requiring to pull equity to buy the new home. :)

By the way, risky lending is back according to several articles I've read on the WSJ, Morningstar, etc.
