Welding 101

Recommended Posts

Some people go to great lengths to be superstars at their craft, others just do the bare minimum. This guy, well I'm not sure what he was trying to do. I discovered this the other day at work while underneath a 2019 Camaro. I'm sure glad new car owners let the professionals do the hard stuff.

Well shit man, it kept blowing through on “HI”, so he set it to “LO” and set everything around it on fire. Shit’ll hold.

Welding what looks like galvanized material usually turns out bad.  Cleaning the shit first would go a long way and not make poison for the welder to breathe.

So... I'm sitting down tonight to grab a bite in Baton Rouge after the days run. These two gem posers plop down next to me, and sucking each other off about their skill.

Welding hats, heavy shirts, pants, boots, etc. The whole 9. One even has a paint pen on his gold necklace.

Not a spec dirt, or slag mark,  on either of them.  I was next to yellow hat.  Yeah, do work kids... Lol

I've hired kids from the south. They have no clue how hard we work in CA and never make it after the first week.

My father worked on the Ft Peck Dam as a welder when they were building it. He waited in line when they were hiring, and there were lots of folks applying for the position that were wearing new Jeans, and carrying a new welding helmet, a stool, and a diploma from welding school. The people they hired were wearing old canvas pants, carrying old welding helmet and cardboard to kneel and lay on.
