    Trailer Tire Blowout

Tandem Torsion axle trailers have to be completely flat (level) or the load will not be evenly distributed. Slipper spring axles do a better job of distributing the load when the trailer is off level.

Mobile tire repair on a Sunday

RV’s, Diesel Pusher’s, camping trailers, etc. are all nearly overloaded from the factory as far as tires and axle weight. Why anyone would want to be a miser or niggardly concerning tires is beyond my ability to comprehend especially when most of us are incredibly limited with our time to enjoy ourselves. Just what I don’t want to do is risk that or my family’s wellbeing. On a lawn tractor, or wheel barrel, maybe a cheap out tire but probably not.

    Trailer Tire Blowout

Here is a method you can use to determine the proper tire pressure for YOUR application. Buy a tire crayon, with the trailer loaded, find a large paved parking lot or a stretch of road you can safely stop at various points along. Mark a line about 2 inches wide evenly across the tire with the crayon. Drive for a distance of about 1/4 mile and pull over and check and see where more of the chaulk is worn off. If more worn off in the center it is over inflated. More wear on the shoulder (outer edge) indicates under inflation. Even all the way across is good. Tires need to be at operating temperature. Best way is to take them to within 10% of maximum pressure or heat them up and inflate to maximum pressure and then in theory you should see indications of center wear and start dropping the pressure by 5% or so until even wear is indicated. This way you aren’t trying to inflate in a parking lot or on the road. If your tires are at maximum inflation and you have excessive should wear from the start, your tires are overloaded and you need to either lighten your trailer or step up the rating on your tires. Once you have this established if you continue to use the same tire you should see the same results. Its a tedious task but worth the time. Tires are a safety item.

    Trailer Tire Blowout

^^^^^^^^^This is very important ^^^^^^^ 12, 14 or 16 ply tires should be mounted by hand with tire irons from the back side (inside) of the wheel not the front the way most tire machines are designed and car and light truck techs taught. They should be saturated with undiluted tire lubricant as well. Another little tidbit of tire information few shops seem to know these days, the little white or orange circle ⭕️ stamped on the tire side wall close to the bead, that is meant to be lined up with the valve stem. Not all tire manufacturers do this but that mark is to designate the heaviest part of the tire which should be located in line with the valve stem since that is the lightest part of the wheel.. By lining them up you can help offset the required weight to balance the tire. BTW it is a good practice to balance trailer tires. It will help elevate tire chop wear. Especially in a heavy carcass tire such as the mentioned tires above.

    Prevost Coach

A friend of mine from Nebraska owns a RV sales and body shop. He called me last week to see if I would have time to drive to Oklahoma City and check out and repair a Prevost Coach he bought from the Copart Auction. It had been vandalized and the generator, Inverters, all the batteries had been removed (butchered). To haul it to his shop was estimated to be around $6000 plus he would have to get someone to repair the wiring enough to get it running which he figured would be at least another $2500-3000. If I could get it running he would come and drive it back. I told him it would was $1200 to get me there plus fuel, and whatever time and materials I spent to repair it enough to run and drive. I was able to install new batteries, build new cables, repair the battery equalizer, fix the chassis wiring, replace the ignition switch and give it a inspection enough to confidentiality tell him he could drive it to his shop (about 500 miles). I bought 4 group 31 batteries, used some wire, battery cable, and a few miscellaneous parts for a grand total of about $2600. I did the job Friday and he came down on Saturday and drove it 543 miles back to his shop. Not sure if it was vandalized by the owner before a repo or just a random act. It appeared to be very clean and not roached out at all before it was vandalized.

Mobile tire repair on a Sunday

Truck tire quality is in the casing and rubber composition. Chinese (Asian) tires do not have consistency in their manufacturing process. Chinese tires are made on worn out machines with sub standard materials. If you look at the steel belts in a Chinese tire they will be rusted every time. Tire flex on the inside of the tire causes the rubber to separate and the air escapes between the layers. The outer cap of the tire seperates from the casing which is why you felt it come apart and then it blew out. Sub Standard rubber cannot hold up to the heat.

This is the only trailer tire I would run. 14 ply American made, quality tire case, closed shoulder. This is a heavy truck tire in a 16 inch. You cannot beat it. https://simpletire.com/goodyear-lt235-85r16-139229099-tires

Yes. Only Michelin for steers. For thirty years they have always been consistent with quality. I have managed several fleets and consulted with many companies and they have all had the same report. In their truck tires they (Michelin) have the highest percentage of natural rubber of any company. No other tire is as good in the rain on a steer as the Michelin. Again my experience as the driver behind the wheel of trucks weighing heavy on the front in every condition of road there is. After that date code has to be addressed.

Yeah I’d be interested to know what brand and the date. Around here 19.5’s have only been available in Michelin, Hankook or Bridgestone. There are probably others now.

Mobile tire repair on a Sunday

They do, they call them “Michelin”. One caveat, any tire has to be checked for the date. They say 5 years on truck tires but if you run Michelin’s they will go longer due to the higher percentage of natural rubber they are made with, however I wouldn’t go longer than 6-7 years on any tire. RV’s and coaches are notorious for being way out of date since they don’t get ran enough miles to wear them out. Another tip if anyone wished to take the time and effort, if your RV sits for more than a couple of months at a time, jack it up and get the weight off the tires with stands or blocks. At the least move it around to keep it from creating a flat spot from sitting. Notice when you first pull out on the highway how much you can feel the tires vibrate or hear them make a “thump, thump, thump” sound for the first few miles until they build up heat and smooth out the flat spots. Taking the weight off or moving it regularly (once a week or so) will keep that from happening and extend the life considerably. This flood of Asian tires made with poor quality rubber has cost a tremendous amount of money especially by those trying to save money. No way I would ever put any other tire 19.5 or larger on a steer tire than Michelin. My personal experience driving a service truck for 30 years.

  15. This is is obviously a test run for SCOTUS. Missouri probably has one of the best state governments currently fighting for gun rights and states rights. My very good friend Eddy Justice is running for Missouri State Senate. He will be joining a body that is very much Second Amendment “originalists” or “purists”. This topic was Eddy:
  16. Missouri Senate Bans All Federal Gun Control Laws in Proposed Bill March 19, 2019 Missouri may have just made the most monumental step towards freedom and individual liberty since the signing of the Bill of Rights. In an upcoming vote by Missouri’s state senate, the state is expected to pass a bill that would nullify ALL Federal gun laws and regulations, and make enforcement of those laws by federal officers within the State of Missouri a criminal offense. Republicans control both U.S. Senate seats and more than two-thirds of the seats in both the Missouri House and Senate. Like it’s predecessor, SB613, Bill SB367 and it’s companion, House Bill HB786, would prevent all state agencies and their employees from enforcing any federal law that infringes the Second Amendment in any way, including gun registrations, fees, fines, licenses and bans. Originally authored in 2014, a former version of the bill was also passed, but vetoed by then Missouri Governor Jay Nixon. Pro-Gun Legislation with teeth A stipulation of the newly passed bill states: Sponsored “All federal acts, laws, executive orders, administrative orders, court orders, rules, and regulations, whether past, present, or future, which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States I and Section 23 of the Missouri Constitution shall be invalid in this state, shall not be recognized by this state, shall be specifically rejected by this state, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this state.” For added measure, SB367’s authors went into great detail on what federal laws will be “considered null and void and of no effect.” (a) Any tax, levy, fee, or stamp imposed on firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition not common to all other goods and services which might reasonably be expected to create a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens; (b) Any registering or tracking of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition which might reasonably be expected to create a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens; (c) Any registering or tracking of the owners of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition which might reasonably be expected to create a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by law-abiding citizens; (d) Any act forbidding the possession, ownership, or use or transfer of a firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition by law-abiding citizens; and (e) Any act ordering the confiscation of firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition from law-abiding citizens Such language is designed to guarantee that the measure can’t be worked around or misninterpreted by legislators or law enforcement agencies. This is an example of pro-gun legislation with teeth. Just HiPoint it Law Enforcement will be losing their ill-gotten gains The bill passed despite heavy opposition by Missouri’s law enforcement community, which should be no surprise, as Missouri law enforcement agencies raked in $34,462,153 in forfeitures from 2001 to 2008, according to a report by the Institute of Justice. That’s a lot of cash for doing Uncle Sam’s bidding, and now law enforcement officers will have to focus on collecting revenue from actual criminals, instead of stealing it from gun owners. The bill’s other stiff opposition came from an unlikely source: the NRA. Anti-gun Senator Jamilah Nasheed tried to sneak language into SB367 that would require gun owners to report a stolen firearm to police no more than 72 hours after the discovery of the theft, or face a $1,000 fine and a misdemeanor charge. However, the actual text of the bill included no such language. Bill author Senator Eric Burlison and bill saboteur Senator Nasheed agreed to reconsider and the stolen firearm reporting clause was removed earlier this week, thus satisfying the source of NRA opposition. Here’s where things get interesting. The Missouri bill also includes criminal charges for any federal agent who violates SB367. As per the new law, state and local (municipal & county) law enforcement officers would be given “discretionary power” to determine if they will press criminal charges against federal agents who break the law by enforcing the now nullified federal gun control measures. Suck on my freedom, Feds But will it hold up in a federal court? Yes. The bill’s main provision calling on the entire state to cease enforcing federal gun control measures stands on solid legal ground under the anti-commandeering doctrine. Court precedent from 1842 to 2012 stipulates that the feds simply cannot require a state to help them violate your Constitutional rights, and allows states the power to refuse to enforce such federal laws it deems unConstitutional. Besides, the feds simply don’t have the manpower to do it at the state level without the assistance and partnership of state and local agencies. Just in case that isn’t enough, Missouri’s Senate also passed a measure supporters say will work hand-in-hand with SB367, solidifying it by codifying the Second Amendment into Missouri’s state constitution. Senate Joint Resolution 36 (SJR36) proposes an amendment to the Missouri state constitution with text obligating the state government to uphold the right to keep and bear arms. It passed the Senate today by a vote of 29-4. If passed by the House, it will be entered on the ballot for Missouri voters’ approval this fall. The amendment would elevate the Right to Bear Arms to “unalienable status,” thereby obligating the state, its courts and agencies to defend it as a guaranteed right of Missouri citizens. Can you imagine if other states follow suit? It would spell the death of gun control in red states, at the very least, if not a step toward political Balkanization. Blue voters would leave red states for those states which prefer heavy-handed federal regulations, and red voters in blue states would have less incentive to continue having their rights treated as privileges. We’ll see if they can get it approved by Missouri’s Governor this time. http://thesentinel.net/politics/missouri-bans-all-federal-gun-control-laws-in-23-10-vote/

  20. Anyone have recommendations for truck mounted LED flood lights? I’m wanting some to replace the work lights on my service truck. I currently have 15 year old incandescent lights. I have bought a couple from Fleetpride but they are Chinese made and I gave around $50 each for them. They are supposedly 2400 lumens. After looking around a little looks like if I’m going to buy Chinese made I could buy some for considerably less money especially off Amazon but I have never purchased anything from Amazon. Do the fewer diodes with higher wattage make a better light or more diodes with lower wattage? Thanks Here are the ones I purchased from Fleetpride:

The truth behind the “homeless epidemic”

When I have time I’m going to make a post that reflects what you posted here. My youngest son is adopted. His sperm donor and the host which incubated him were both drug users. He is 15 years old now. She used while pregnant. If I ever see her on the street I may or may not refrain from strangling the life out of her for what she caused him to go through and continues to go through. There are an incredible amount of these children/adults running around. Our story (wife and I) and my sons problems are almost unbelievable. I’m sure many on here won’t believe it. Its only been in the last 15-20 years that women using drugs while pregnant has been more common. The results in the child are devastating. Worse thing is not the physical but behavioral. Add into that most also suffer from RAD which compounds the problem.

New Zealand banning "assault style guns"

Sorry to say but the NRA is to gun ownership and owners what Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are to blacks. Lawyers using political hot buttons to get filthy rich and keep there plight in front of the masses without solving anything.Follow the money. ”shall not be infringed” does not leave room for compromise.
