    Trucks With Shells

I have a 2001 F-350. I am told that I have a "breathing disease" that is the #1 qualifer for handicap parking. In Ca you can be forgiven weight fees on 1 commercial vehicle by installing handicap plates. I put them on my truck and haven't paid weight fees for 4 years. Truck is still registered Commercial and I can haul anything I want. Plus when I need it I can get some damn convenient parking places.

    Autometer Fuel Gauge Install

you got it. make sure the sender is grounded good to the frame. on old trucks when the ground is attached to a crossmember you can loose the ground through dirty and rusty rivets and bolts. IT COSTS NOTHING TO ADD ANOTHER GROUND WIRE FROM SENDER TO MAIN FRAME RAIL AND IS GOOD INSURANCE.

    Autometer Fuel Gauge Install

if you can get to the top of the tank, unplug the wires from the tank unit. then with the key on place a jumper wire between the sender wire coming from the gauge (i think it will be a tan wire) to the frame. with this wire grounded the gauge should go to empty. with the key still on remove jumper and gauge should go past full. if this all works as i described you will have tested the gauge and all the wiring in between. don't worry about needle not moving after key is off. remember it takes power to move the needle. key off=no power to gauge.

    Autometer Fuel Gauge Install

Before you pull the tank try grounding the sender wire as close to the sending unit that you can access it. when that wire is grounded with ign. on the gauge should read enpty. With the same wire unhooked with ign on gauge will go past full. If you run this test before you pull the tank you might find that there is an open circut between sender and guage.

    Question

Sorry if I made it sound too complicated. All that I am saying is to use any car seat that you would use in your regular car. I dont know who, but I am sure that some government agency such as D.O.T. has to pass and aprove the seats that we buy from Kids R Us and Wal-Mart. I am just saying that I think that a person that bolts down a folding camp chair or an extra chair from their kitchen at home will have thouble with the sand cops. Perhaps if I would have read your original question more carefully I would have picked up on that you already planed on using your car seat. You already seem to be headed in the right direction. My son and daughter in law made up games and a reward system at home to get her use to goggles and helmets and other safety equipment for sand use and boating before springing it all on her at once when the time came. Have fun and be careful.

    Question

We started out hauling our 3 year old grandaughter when she was 2 in the back of our Rhino (with 4 seat cage) by straping down her car seat down at the rear of the bed in the center. The law is going to want them in a legal car seat anyway so this seemed like a way to comply and give her the safest ride. I have since added a rear seat and now we strap the car seat down on the rear bench seat. This is working out fine for us and seems to satisfy the sand cops. Everyone has thier own opinion on helmets in enclosed vehicles so I would not try to influence anybody on how they choose to protect their young passengers. I feel that her small neck dosen't need the added weight of a m/c helmet bouncing her head around. In the begining since she was so far down in the head protection area of the car seat we let her ride without any helmet. Since we now have the rear seat and the car seat sits up higher than it used to we are having her wear a light weight bicycle helmet because she is closer to the roll bar now. I would also say any decisions as to how to safely haul any passenger needs to be influnced by how you drive. In my case I dont do anything crazy in the Rhino so I think we will be alright with our setup. Dont forget you need to use a LEGAL car seat.

Tires That Haul Your Sand Car

I HAVE SEVEN OF THAT SIZE TIRE MOUNTED ON SIX LUG CHROME SPOKES. I SWITCHED MY TRAILER OVER TO SIXTEEN INCH WHEELS. THE TAKE OF TIRES HAVE ONE TRIP TO IDAHO ON THEM. THEY ARE "D" RATED TIRES. I COULD NOT FIND "E" TIRES IN FIFTEEN INCH. I THINK THAT GOODYEAR HAS MADE THE FIFTEEN INCH TIRES IN AN "E" IN THE PAST BUT THEY MAY HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED. WE COULDN'T FIND THEM WHEN I WAS LOOKING AND THE TWO GOODYEAR COMMERCIAL DEALERS WE BUY FROM WERE UNABLE TO TELL ME IF THEY WOULD BE AVAILABLE AGAIN. I KNOW THIS ISN'T EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR BUT IF THEY WILL DO YOU ANY GOOD I CAN MAKE YOU A GREAT DEAL ON THEM. DAVE HUPMAN (925) 963-2833
