    Sad News

Greetings all, Hope you all are doing well. I just received an email with a long list of recipients, so I assume this is public knowledge. Randy was a good guy. Really good. He was quick with a smile, always enjoyed his coffee at the early morning events, and put in more hours than a full time job with the ASA. He spent countless hours so that folks could enjoy the sand. I am proud to say I had the pleasure of his friendship. Keep him in your thoughts. Thanks https://www.facebook.com/randy.shank.98?fref=ts
  2. Made nothing up, just stated an observation. Does not change that you voted for Obama. Speaking of observations, you sure do talk a lot of shit, but you don't ever seem to actually accomplish anything. I am perplexed. How would you know what I do and do not accomplish? But, long as we are speaking of accomplishments I see you changed you signature? Sure seems to be a far cry from your prior statements? Basic change of heart or tired of being an embarrassment? I see you posting, telling people they need to volunteer their time to the ASA, but you don't seem to have the time to volunteer. Not entirely true. Could not make the Halloween event. But scheduled for the Short course at Firebird. Trying to figure Lucas deal, but fear I will be in Vegas for work. Lots of time at Barret Jackson, Camp Rzr Last year, etc. Plenty of time donated to ASA. So I missed Halloween this year? It happens. Never fear, will be at Barret Jackson for a few stints. Do you want pictures? Same thing with donating. How much have you donated? Cash? To ASA? About $200.00+ each year. Time? Shoot for 40 hours, sometimes more, sometimes less. But yes, about 40 for the last few years. I will send you a PM on something that simply did not work. This week? LePimpster? Check. Need more? A couple of months ago I contacted you about donating a radio for that Marine's Baja Bug project. You said you'd get back to me about whether or not the intercom had a radio input, but that never happened. Told you at the time the intercom would not accept it. Did you need to be told again? No plug in for it. What's going on with the Baja Bug project? Looks like that didn't get anywhere. A lot of people donated to that cause, but I didn't see any actual work get accomplished. It just got moved around, but it looks the same now as it did back a year and a half ago. Slow project for certain. Life defiantly gets in the way sometimes. In this case for everybody involved. At the body shop. We keep plugging along. Part of the reason "it looks the same" is because a significant amount of $ was spent on the motor. Not much to see there, but can make vroom vroom noises. Don't bother replying with some more of your childish bullshit attempts at deflecting. Not deflecting. Straight answers. That they don't reconcile with your perceptions does not make them any less true. If you're too busy to do any of the things you talk about, I can understand that. Part of being an adult is understanding that other people are busy too, and not subject to your finger pointing. You want volunteers? Do it yourself, or STFU. Don't make promises you can't keep, makes you look like a bullshitter. I tend not to do that. In fact I work pretty hard at keeping my word. Sometimes it gets delayed, but always manage to keep my word. Started with a clock radio for the girl left a quadriplegic and a photo drive - after that? Annual Flag drives - yes, Fund raiser for Gilmore's girl - yes, Paypal to every cause of action? - yes You need more? This really is not about me though. Perplexed why you take the opportunity to try and make it about me?

  5. Stopped by the ASA booth at campRZR this weekend to check out the Twisted Alloy car. The rep at the booth immediately began boasting about the new open areas. I mentioned that in my opinion tons of dunes that are/were rarely ever ridden opened up, yet Gordon's got screwed big time. He became extremely defensive, saying "well do you come to ride the dunes or just hang out at Patton all day?" My response was BOTH! And now thats impossible, not to mention the ONE entrance into the dunes in Gordon's is going to quickly evolve into a dangerous situation. Honestly I was a little offended by his response to my opinion, and how defensive he became. I (and 3 others in my group) laughed it off and chalked it up to him hearing the complaints all weekend long. ASA failed this time He likely became defensive because he is tired. At the Camp RZR event there was the Gilles family, and three members from ASA AZ. Bob Mason, Doug and Randy. In the last few years I have watched Bob slow a bit. Guy spends his retirement working for dune folks day in and out. Doug and Randy? Equally as dedicated and the future of the ASA. They did not go romp the dunes and have fun. Nope, they manned the booth. Set up was Thursday? Four days. No pay. Maybe fuel was covered for them? After the CampRzr event, Doug and Randy transported the car back to Phoenix, and will detail for the Lucas event this coming weekend. Bob will continue to work daily for the group. That next event? Yep, those three guys will again be there. Mind numbing that folks would come on here and go keyboard commando on a relatively small group of folks that do so much for your ability to enjoy the ISDRA. BTW, Tim Wright in AZ deserves a special shout. He does a lot but was not there this last weekend. We had hoped to be, even though we currently do not have a sand toy, but work schedule simply would not allow it. Rest assured I will do my best to let these guys have a break as soon as I can because they deserve it. Here is a thought. Don't be an ass. Don't be an ingrate. Don't blame the only group that has represented you for your access. You must be naive if you blame the ASA. Why not blame the CBD, BLM, USFWS heck, even the courts? You understand that the USFWS believes that this closure contains the most significant PMV population? You also understand that Bureau of Land Management (BLM), in the recent ruling approved by Judge Illston, was required to consider the USFWS PMV Biological Opinion? Of course you do. Else why would you spout off? Go ahead, enlighten all of us how you would do it better.
  6. Nobody will bash a well thought out post. Your drivel and innuendo is just, well, drivilish. Nice BUZZ words.. lol.. No hard feelings..ok? Its just my opinion. These days everyone is SO sensitive... Personally I think you owe Nicole and the Gilles family an apology. You can call them out publicly, you can certainly retract publicly as well? Actually, he never called them out. You just did. In the other thread he certainly implies that the Asa money is going for her personal ride. So I guess he actually did? Why post it in this thread? If he called them out in another thread, then ask for the apology in the same thread. They are different conversations. I hadn't seen what was in the other thread, so your post made no sense on it's own. I responded to his post. There has always been plenty of bleed between threads here. But to be clear: Something made no sense to you, you chimed in uninformed, and then blamed me for your ignorance? You voted for Obama right?

  8. You have no rights if you have a medical quarantine. (None, Nada, Zip) Trouble with that is you have to have medical symptoms to have a medical quarantine. She did not. They proposed a "quarantine" with no medical basis. Sounds like bad law / government to me? To your point, she should have just stayed home? Not quite a Pyrrhic victory but pretty close for her would be my guess? I understand her rights and can even empathize with her stance.. Who the hell wants the state/feds to tell them what to do? She's a doctor, she probably knows better than most, but you could tell she had an agenda, and you could tell she was just chomping at the bit for it to be made a bigger deal, or for them to quarantine her.. She would have sued big time. A little courtesy from her or even acknowledging that there might be a risk, is all I ask. Makes me despise the "Doctors without borders" a bit... I agree completely. Everybody is so quick to assert their rights. She clearly had an agenda. Doctors w/o B is a fine group. But yea I see that element of it too. We will see what comes next? Again, rumor, but about 300 being monitored in NYC as they traveled from western Africa. The 21 day is suspect and recently it came out that it can live, stand alone, up to 50 days. Also can be "aerostable" and is "aerosolized" via sneeze? Hope it turns out to be just media hype. But 6.18b is a lot of hype control?

  11. http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office...t-s-response-eb Haven't seen chit about this, almost as if the hospitals have some kind gag order. Is for the 3000 troops in Africa and related support, no ? ? ? You too lazy to clicky on the linky? Short answer - Nope. Some, but lions share is domestic. Here is the break down. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) - $2.43 billion: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) - $1.83 billion. The request includes funding to prevent, detect, and respond to the Ebola epidemic and other infectious diseases and public health emergencies both at home and abroad for the following activities: Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund (PHSSEF) - $333 million. The request includes $166 million for PHSSEF to immediately respond to patients with highly-infectious diseases such as Ebola, including for the purchase of and training on the use of PPE at hospitals across the United States and to support more than 50 Ebola Treatment Centers. National Institutes of Health - $238 million. The request includes funding for immediate response for advanced clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of investigational vaccines and therapeutics. Food and Drug Administration - $25 million. The request includes funding for immediate response for development, review, regulation, and post-market surveillance of an Ebola vaccine and therapeutics. U.S. Agency for International Development - $1.98 billion: The request includes funding for USAID to scale up the U.S. foreign assistance response to contain the Ebola crisis in West Africa and assist in the region’s recovery from the epidemic. Department of State - $127 million: The request includes funding to expand the Department’s medical support and evacuation capacity to overseas posts in the affected region, provide additional repatriation assistance, and support other diplomatic operational needs including an Ebola Coordination Unit. Department of Defense - $112 million: The request includes funding for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to support immediate efforts aimed at developing technologies that are relevant to the Ebola crisis, such as providing immediate temporary immunity, including through the use of antibodies from survivors of Ebola and other infectious diseases that will help provide a stop gap until an effective vaccine is available, and developing new technologies that could shorten the vaccine development timeline from years to months. Contingency Fund: The Administration is requesting $1.54 billion for a Contingency Fund, with $751 million for HHS and $792 million for USAID and the Department of State.
