  1. Stress is the worst. I believe that stress causes more deaths than any other condition, it's just that stress comes with many names attached to it, but the bottom line is a ton of ailments are brought on by stress. I retired at 58 due to stress, a stressful job is not worth your well being. I kept telling myself I can handle stress no problem, but I was fooling myself. I gained weight the last few years before retiring and suffered other effects that I never was aware of until I retired.

I quit drinking 30 yrs ago and don't miss it in the least.

And sleep is critical to good health, and I mean good sleep. Stress causes sleep issues for a lot of people, at least with me it does.

There some things that happen to us we can't control because of genetics. We can mitigate them sometimes by taking action such as a lifestyle change or medication. I was fortunate to inherit good genes, I was always in good shape into my mid 50's. Good blood work results every year, no extra weight, and good strength and stamina. I did work out regularly until my late 40's but no other dedicated efforts other than working hard and playing hard. But then a few months after I retired I was diagnosed with ALS (which is not genetic of course) so you never know what life will throw at you! I had to give up duning, which was my passion, a year after my diagnosis but am 64 now and still somewhat upright and breathing. :dude:

I guess what I'm getting at is get stress out of your life, do what you can to take of yourself, and enjoy the time you have because life doesn't always come with a warranty so enjoy the ride while it lasts!!

(And if I post some weird chit sometimes, cut me some slack, I have a good excuse!)

The only way you can do anything that makes any difference is by taking over local school boards, city councils, county seats and water districts. The war is lost, shoring up your local area against the onslaught of state governance is the last resort in the eventual downfall.

@Cookie posted before about how important local elections are....just as or more important than national elections IMO. The problem is, local elections have poor turnout and this is where the leftist activist get their foot in the door and start poisoning the system with their ideology. This is why Soros is spending huge sums for candidates at the local level, and it's an effective strategy. With a little research you can easily get background info on local candidates, it doesn't take much effort thanks to the google machine. You would probably be surprised when you learn more about these freaks that are running in local elections!

  4. It's not the candidates, it's the ignorant electorate that is the problem. And that's not just in CA. I actually believe our electorate here in the Republic of Antifa are even more ignorant than those south of us. Measure 110 (decriminalizing of illegal drugs) is a prime example. The voters realized that the measure increased overdoses and failed to deal with addiction problem (made it worse,DUH!) and the leftist here figured out a way to repeal the law while raising taxes again (initial measure allowed new taxes to implement) to support the repeal that does NOTHING to change the initial measure! Effing insanity with voter support!

So funny, been thinking the same thing - went from El Nino for 3 or 4 years, to the new term of Atmospheric river.

Up here they were called "Chinooks", then "Pineapple Express", and now "Atmospheric river". I'm sure the next name will be something like "Existential Atmospheric Tsunami".

It's similar to the term the media picked up on, "Bomb Cyclone". It was a term used for decades to describe a barometric pressure difference that normally occurs over open oceans and doesn't always relate to extreme weather. But it sounded good on tv.
