  1.  Finders Keepers? California Penal Code 485. ... Under California Penal Code 485 PC, appropriating lost property is a crime if there are any clues as to who the owner of the property is. For example, if you find $20 on the ground, you're not legally responsible to go around asking passersby if they lost the money.Sep 1, 2016

The snow cat doesn't care... but the owner of the SxS should.  Why let your tires get torn up and abuse the rest of the drivetrain like that?  Plus, my point was if they would have pulled the axles as I described another SxS could have pulled them out for free, vs. a $$$$$$$$$$$$ snow cat pull.

if i was driving the snow cat i would rather the wheels be locked up less chance of it rolling into the cat after going over a dune and it will follow better not trying to go its own way

So an individual runs/rolls a stop sign, is observed by the law doing so, and a citation is issued.

So the law is a dirt bag for doing his job ?

    I guess I don't get it.

Wasn't there legislation recently passed, last year or this year, that California stops were now legal ?

i never said he was a dirt bag in fact i said he was being professional but he has had a long history around here of harassing and intimidation tactics.   he knew i had a cdl and a clean driving record and the 1 point ticket will transfer to nj with 2 points. He simply could of found a different ticket to wright without points he stated to me that this would affect my job with a cdl.............eddited      to add he was sitting right at the end of ted kipt and probably pulling over anyone that was leaving boardmanville if i didnt roll through the stop he probably would of pulled me over just to check the pass and make contact he was probably looking for drunk drivers,

Wow.  But in this case, it's hard to blame the machine.  I had a '16 XPT previously, and had the recall done to update the return line (though, I had hundreds and hundreds of fire-free miles before the recall was done as well).  I'd say whoever sold you the non-updated '16 Turbo has some bad CARma coming their way...

i bought it before there was a recall Alba

And the other 50% are carrying fuel in the "bed."

Maaaaaaybe it locked something up in the trans, but most likely that was just them forgetting to put it in neutral.  I saw a vid of another one getting towed out by the snow cat and the front tires were spinning, but the rears were locked.  On that one, it's very likely the trans was locked up.  There's no "driveshaft" to disconnect since the rear tires are driven directly out of the trans - so some ppl just assume there's nothing they can do and call that 'cat which had to be $1500+.  The one I'm talking about still had all 4 wheels intact, so if they would have just separated the CVs out at the hub side (you need to leave the stub-axle in the hub because it holds it all together) and then pulled the rest of the axle out from the trans on both sides they would have been rolling free and easily could have been pulled out by another SxS.  A new boot and they could have reassembled those axles.  But even if you don't want to deal with all that, you can just take a sawzall and lop the axle off on both ends and roll the thing out.  Sure, you have to buy a new pair of axles, but that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than a snowcat pull AND a good chance to replace/upgrade a wear item (RZR axles come as loaded units, complete with both CVs).

I have personally seen a few catch on fire because of gas cans.  Never seen one go up for any other reason.  Obviously that's just anecdotal evidence.  As far as running out of gas... we do a ride where my XPT will use a full tank (RRE to Duners Diner along the canal, then out to test in Gordons and North through all of the "finger dunes" and then all the big hills like Patton, The Ceiling, The Wall etc. finally up through China and back to RRE or maybe Olds).  Of course, every time we've attempted it lately we've cut it short because somebody breaks or we spend hours helping somebody we find stranded.  However, when I have completed it in the Potter I used well over half a tank (30 gallon fuel cell... guys with other LS rails and 16 gallon cells were running out) and in my '16 XPT I had the fuel light flashing the last portion of the ride.

Now, if we do that ride we do bring fuel... but here's how we do it.  We put 5 gallon fuel jugs, only filled with 3-4 gallons, on the passenger side of the RZR standing upright on the floor and secured to the "oh shit handle" with no passenger.  Yes, it's a plastic jug of fuel next to me... but hey I'm already sitting on one big plastic jug 'o fuel.  There's nothing hot for any fuel to splash on, plus keeping it under-full reduces the chances of a leak/splash.  Finally, I keep spare o-rings for the tops and complete vents/o-rings for my fuel jugs so I replace them as soon as they start cracking or leaking (as they all do eventually).

When we get down to Duners we have breakfast, then after b'fast we fill up all the cars from the jugs we brought, so the jugs are empty for the rest of the ride.

i had my turbo rzr catch fire i bought it used and had to replace the turbo. We were duning near china wall when i came to a stop i had 3ft flames rolling out from under the turbo and up the side of the rzr. the guys behind me saw the fire for a few minutes which was small until i turned it off and the air from the clutches stopped  I had two fire extinguishers only needed one to put it out and it reignited a few time while it cooled down. The turbo i got was a take out with less than 50 miles from a 16 it was complete with mounting brackets and oil return pipe. So the 16 turbo uses a paper gasket to seal the oil return like and the gasket had failed and the bolts loosened up creating the leak which started the fire. my rzr was a 17 and the turbo that came with it originally had a oil return pipe with a 3/8 thick flange machined for a oring which is the updated version. I didnt notice the differences and didnt know there were any differences when i installed the new turbo after the fire i found out there was a recall on the oil pipe on 16 rzr. we were able to make a new gasket and tighten the bolt back up and drive back to camp got the fire out real quick didnt melt anything or burn any wires. was real lucky

  6. well for every good contact there is at least one bad. So Saturday late afternoon we decided to get out of the dune and get a pizza over at boardmanville  drove my truck did not want any problems just driving over the tracks. I saw a blm sitting right at the end of wash road drove by no problem went had a pizza and 1 beer thats it had a great time. On the way back well i rolled through the stop sign at the end of ted kip rd getting back on 78 got pulled over pulling back into the dunes.  I have a cdl and I don't know ca laws but here a dwi is .08 for regular licence and .04 for cdl i was fine to drive but just worried about my cdl. So officer Hermes came up a little less then friendly but never the less professional took all my info you could tell from the questions he was fishing for a bust or something and continued the inform me that i was pulled over for a moving violation for rolling thru the stop.I told him to be honest i never really noticed the sign there and since going back the sign is about 25 ft from 78 and is why i probably i didnt see it. But anyways he continued to inform me that there doesn't even need to be a sign there any time you travel from a county road to a state road you must stop its the law. Well he is telling me all this and im watching everyone leaving wash road rolling right onto 78 and just couldn't believe what i was hearing. After he cam back with the ticket he told me i should go to court because i have a cdl and could affect my job so he knew he was effing me. i have 10 trucks on a commercial policy and all my drivers have clean driving records now i have to deal with ticket my licence is clean i would like to keep it that way. so does anyone know any lawyers in elcentro to go to  court.

  8. i took mine apart you need special wrenches to get them apart the toerance for the wrench makes it almost impossible to fab up your own wrench they are a little pricey. about 350 for the 2.5 wrench set alittle over 400 for the 3.0 set kartec has them

  9. my 99 f350 towed great stock tires drw back and forth from glamis to nj 4 times pulling a 48ft goose neck about 20k. never had a problem until i sold it and bought a 2017 f450 platinum with 5500 miles on it.  so far new egr valve, new dpf. reprogramming 3 times, new nox sensors, and that was before i put 500 miles on it. then i made the trek across the country was a great ride comfortable quiet and it just liked to tow and go straight.  i love the new truck so nice so the trailers have been in storage all season and the truck isn't towing much and some how i blew the transmission ford rebuilt it under warranty 14k on it now. the new truck is a lot better and safer the f350 always had a hard time stopping and i over heated the brakes a few times. all in all if i wasn't towing 2800 miles twice a year i would still have my 7.3

Alright. I will look for the part and swap it out. Hopefully it's pretty easy. I found the front ride height in the manual of 8-5/16. Last question? Why does it not continuously dump air if the valve is bad? It does not, at least I don't think, dump air while the coach is running.

    Thanks all for your help.

    Andrew

there are protection valves in the system that stop the air flo below a certain pressure. when you shut down the engine it will only drain the tanks so far . the compressor is able to produce more air than the leak.

  12. leveling valve is probably bad there is another valve 90 pound vlave that is probably stopping your air leak. the 90 pound valve protects the air system in the event that a bag poops you dont loose all the air and have no brakes.below 90 lbs the valve shuts and stops the flow of air to that circuit. like said above measure you bumper heights before you change it and put it up on the jacks so you don't become a pancake when you disconnect the air. that valve should be in stock at any good truck part store

  13. i just found a iPhone 11 in wash 10  . it was locked with Verizon service i hooked it up to iTunes and got the iemi number and called Verizon. they were able to call the owner and they had the owner call me. The guy lost the phone two weeks earlier on Halloween weekend and already had a replacement he gave me his address in Tuscon and i mailed him his phone. now his daughter is getting a new phone.

honda trx 250.  was the solution to our grandson who was about 8 when he transitioned. Had a raptor 80, and the 250 was easy to ride and his skills improved faster as well.

i was looking at the trx250 actually was the first quad i was looking at its about 380 lbs and the rapor 250 is 330 lbs.      I found alot of long travel kits and shock kits for the raptor. The raptor 125 i believe is close to the same size as they both use the same plastics and a arms the 125 weighs 300 lbs.   i just wish recluse made a clutch kit for the 250.

Depending on size, I’d say either a Polaris 110 or Honda 250. My daughter is 12 and rides a Honda 250 just about anywhere. My 10 year old niece rides a Polaris 110 and it does just fine in the dunes. Of course you gotta then it around on some dunes and find a new path but for the most part it does real well.

thanks she would fit on a 110 better she has a canam 90 it dosent go up anything in the sand but does great in the hard pack.  i think im going to find a raptor do the suspension for her weight and wait for her to grow into it. ive seen the raptor 125 but the suspension didnt seem like it would be worth getting one. with all the rzr tracks the chop really makes it hard to keep the momentum up with the smaller quads.  https://www.letgo.com/en-us/i/2013-yamaha-raptor-125_d50e2c6f-3109-4f2a-bc50-1ed1d44e5cb1

My 8 year old is on a Honda 250 but he can also ride my 13 year olds Raptor 250. I got him the Honda because he’s not totally comfortable with full clutch yet but It’ll only be for maybe a couple years tops before my 13 year old moves up to a 450 and he’ll get the Raptor. 13 year old left 8 year old on the right.

what is the power difference between the honda and yamaha 250   and are they both around the same weight i was looking for a yamaha just looks like the suspension was better on the raptor and might be a little more stable than the honda .

  17. my son was 10 when he started on my yamaha 450r     i put a recluse clutch in it, nerf bars, and left the nobbies on it for him he never gets stuck makes it anywhere in the dunes. the 450r is wide and low  the extra power gets him out of any trouble he gets into he was 120 lbs when he was 10. my daughter just turned 9 im looking for a raptor 250 for her they only made them for 3 years.
