If it's an add on tube, 1" x .120 is what I'd use. At least use the same wall thickness as the tube it's welded to. My old chassis used the tube that was already behind the seats, but that's not technically correct to attach the belt to, it needs to be higher. There is a spec from the belt...

My new chassis is 1 3/4 x .120 4130 with every weld rooted and capped with high tensile rod. It ain't no squirt gunned chassis, we should be able to do some damage with it :D
