Thoughts on which one of these has the best chance pf actually solving the problem. The second one showing a max output of 3.5a makes me a bit nervous as the motor specs I have state 6.5a at 220v.
~$300 gamble either way...
Prob about 50% or more...it's scary how fast it is now. We havent even put the horses on it yet....maybe the VFD is the better route? I only have 120v tho.

That was what I tried - albeit a cheaper one...it was working . slowed it down, but wasn't slow smooth speed, and then tripped via its built in overload protection after a few seconds
