I've got this Polaris Phoenix for sale...$1,500 and the truth be known, I'd probably take $1,000 if some AH would show up and look at it....or text me, or message me and say tell me about your POS machine first which is really what it is).

But, I digress....I place the add on CL and FB Marketplace and about a week later I get a message....
$1,000....that was all he said. He has a very small FB account
A few days later, he sends me another msg, "LMK." So far, I've ignored him.
Like I said, if he would say, tell me about your machine, why are you selling it, is the price firm....the POS might be gone by now. I just spent $125 on it (seat cover and battery) to prep it for next week's trip and I have my eye on a TRX300 at the local MC shop. I'd much rather be riding that 300 next week.

This morning, I get a very nice offer for "$800 and he'll get it today." I look at the pic, and I know the guy, sorta, our daughters played BB together 5-8 years ago. So, I say, 13, and that he is a comedian, don't quit your day job. He responds w/850 is all that it is worth to me (which I can accept....as he is finally truthful/legit).

So, my question...WTF do you do w/a AH that sends you a msg, out of the blue w/a very low-ball offer? Is he looking for a counter-offer, should I counter-offer?

Also, WTF is it w/these clowns that can't look to see where Whitewater is? (My city, it is in the add). Additionally, on CL, there is a map, it shows the closest highway junction 1.7 miles from my house....they ask, "Where are you at." ...I consider this an excellent sign that this is going no-place. I say that the description in the add is correct...Ohhhh, quite often that is the last that I hear. I'm not very computer savvy...Would you bring it to Denver (250 miles away)....WTF, are you high (a legitimate question for Colorado)?. No.

IF I send you a cashiers check for $2,000, it's all I got, can you send me the difference in cash?

this is funny to me because HondaJim hasn't got a hold of him yet......

Unless I'm desperate to sell, I ignore any and all dumbshit messages.
If I need something gone, I'd respond and/or accept any of those offers you posted above.

I always mention my location (relatively specific too) plus the zip code.

Tell him sure thing and tell him to meet you at a location!
Make sure that location is a comedy bar.
When the dude shows up and is like WTF...tell him his offer was so funny that you figured he'd want to tell his act to others!
LMAO

Are you looking for a dialogue or old school CL hook up, or are you trying to sell your POS Polaris? (Your words)

He “offered” 1000, you didn’t respond. Doesn’t mean they’re a scammer. Low baller, yes. But if you would take 1k why not indulge them and get your money.

Location is not always correct in offer up or Craigslist

Many sellers and buyers, myself included don’t want to have a back and forth about why you’re selling etc. what difference does it make if the buyer isn’t interested in why you’re selling it, it’s really none of his business.

I always reply - I don't haggle on $ unless you have looked at it and have cash in hand - However if I have to put a number out there I will always increase the price by half the amount he took off my asking price....... In your case reply Hows $1750 ???

OR if asked what is the lowest I will take - I answer with "What is the absolute Highest you would pay " It weeds out the idiots for sure that no show or waste your time.

I hate selling anything because I can't stand the bs time wasters - 1000 picture types ....etc Its brutal

Some buyers will make multiple accounts and send offers as an attempt to wear you down. If they can’t type a sentence and just send a number I ignore it.
