If the new tank is longer forward to back and you do use a piece of tube like the stock one you just have to make sure you can get that shift shaft out.

Or get really fancy and just hole saw two holes and weld a tube in it just like the factory Funco tank is done. Of course you'd have to remove the shift shaft to get the tank out though.
