    Nitrogen in Shocks

That's correct. With my Fox bypass, the shaft can move upwards with oil bypassing the shim stack until it gets to about half way where it moves beyond the first bypass tube, it will then lose the ability to bypass through both tubes and it will get substantially stiffer. When it moves beyond the...

    Nitrogen in Shocks

Unless I've been wrong for years, Fox bypass shocks use 2 compression and 1 rebound bypass tubes (unless they're the high dollar bypasses which use more tubes). The longest compression bypass is in use until the shaft is almost fully compressed, once the shim stack moves beyond the bypass tube...

I should have stated I use Fox.

Whats a COMPLETE Turbo Honda setup worth?

Mine is heavier and had a lot of body roll when I needed to turn in a hurry, something a sway bar would've corrected I suppose. It is definitely heavier.

Whats a COMPLETE Turbo Honda setup worth?

Your results are pretty much what I experienced. I liked how the Honda drove but I also like that with the LS I can just dune in 3rd most of the time. I rarely ever go balls out fast, that just doesn't thrill me, what I do like is being in 3rd and coming upon a hill and I can just goose it and...

My faith in humanity has been restored - what would you do ?

Everyone always expects used stuff to be top notch these days, when in fact it's used stuff. You buy it, you own it.

    Nitrogen in Shocks

That's all dependant on how open or closed the tubes are. I keep the longest tube closest towards the end of travel closed more than the short tube because I want the dampening from the valving so the shaft slows down and won't bottom out as easily. In other words my bypass shock gets much...

    Nitrogen in Shocks

All of the nitrogen is on top of the piston in the reservoir and just keeps the fluid under pressure. As the shock compresses the shaft displaces fluid and it goes into the wet bottom side of the reservoir. Changing the nitrogen pressure does change the stiffness of the shock in general but not...

Working or not working between Christmas and New Years?

Took Tuesday off because I was sick, had Xmas day off, then took yesterday off because I was still sick. I worked today although I probably shouldn't have, I never take days off of work. I'll get 2 sick days plus the holiday so my check will be pretty normal.

    Tool Talk

Snap-on as a company has some brilliant marketing, they package everything in a plastic carrying case with a lid so that when your tool box is "full" you have to upgrade to a bigger one. I don't go onto the tool trucks anymore but when I do there's always some young kid from our lube rack that's...

    Anyone using Placer AI?

I kind of figure it's here to stay, but is there anyone other than me that's sick of hearing the term AI? Every half witted journalist uses the term at every chance they get. We've all seen the Terminator, Skynet is live, get used to it. 🤪

Any fusion 360 experts here ?

Yes crashing the carbide into the workpiece sometimes does serious damage to the spindle and/or workholder, especially if it's travelling at 200ipm. That's a fine gesture on your part. If anyone has some spare time, the videos that Titans of CNC produces are pretty interesting. Some of those...

    LS thermostat housing gasket??

Get some gasket material and make one or use silicone sealant. The rubber gasket on a t/stat is usually all that's needed but it really needs to be on a t/stat to have enough crush to seal, if you take the guts out of a t/stat and use the rubber seal it'll work good.

Any fusion 360 experts here ?

You've got a VF2? That's baller machinery lol! I was in the market for a vertical mill a few years ago for my garage enjoyment but the VF2 I wanted required 50a of 3 phase and wasn't phase converter friendly. I also looked at a Syil X7 and a Tormach 1100MX, both of which would run on single...

    Lemon law advice AZ

The reality of it is all new cars are pretty much garbage. They all have their own issues, I'm a used car tech at a dealer and I see them all. You have to just pick one with the features you like and run with it. Regarding your MIL's Santa Fe, yes the dry dual clutch transmissions do have some...

    UHC CEO Shot

Some years ago I had surgery by an out of network surgeon in an in network hospital. 6 months after the fact he sends me a bill for 10k, UHC completely denied payment even after I argued I was not given that info or the choice who my surgeon was. I ended up negotiating the bill down to 1800. To...

    2D Mid-Engine Modifications Needed?

You remove the diff/ring gear as an assembly and reinstall it so the ring gear is on the other side. You'll still have to set side bearing preload and backlash.
