Racer Front Engine Sand Car - Why?

What 3rd member housing are you running in this? Currie, spidertrax, etc? The idea of this setup seems unique. Hopefully I see this thing out there at some point super cool ride

    Gear oils, what’s your flavor?

I was not thrilled about the dyno session on fresh components. This go around there will be a proper break in. Would there be an advantage to running 250w oil?

That tooth was easy to grab for reference lol

    Gear oils, what’s your flavor?

It’s definitely a loaded question. I will say that trans definitely got an improper break in. Straight to the dyno. But I usually drive pretty easy until I get some good oil temps on the engine at least

    Gear oils, what’s your flavor?

Currently have my weddle s4 in the shop because of a tore up ring and pinion. Looks like the pinion was getting hot prior to failure. Current fluid that I was running was the maxima 75w-190. The swepco 203 140w technical specs look comparable to the maxima 75w-190; but with the moly blend.

Summer upgrades that got a little out hand...1.5 year upgrade

Friday was a nice day up in Phelan so ended up taking the car out for a little rip…this thing rides like a fork lift in the desert at low speeds. It’s a handful when it comes on boost with the 35s. Might need a little more tire for traction. Been looking at 37s but want them to be as light as...

Water to air intercooler for a turbo setup

This is the exact heat exchanger that i ordered...my bad and the intercooler core is above. all i did was cut the 3/4" tubes off and weld on #12 an fittings. This thing sits in direct air flow.

Water to air intercooler for a turbo setup

When I bought my core I shopped around and found it for $360. That was about a year and a half ago now.    they have smaller sizes. My core is rated for a 1000hp

Water to air intercooler for a turbo setup

My setup was pretty budget friendly. I started with a garret air to water intercooler core and fabbed up the rest of it to fit in where I needed it to go.    I run a meziere water pump and I just run a heat exchanger that was purchased off of Amazon for about $200. Pump pulls from the bottom...

    Freshening a turbo J35

Oil pressures good.   So now it’s time to address the suspension. Car G’s out too easily. Damaged my new skid plate I made…dads out there thrashing on that thing. Going to speed rebound up a little bit too.  I'm thinking a .01” stack on the rebound side. And maybe a .02” on the compression or...

    Freshening a turbo J35

Great weekend. The J35 ran freaking excellent! Oil pressure was sitting around 25 psi at idle after about an hr of solid riding and would rise back up to 75 psi as soon as you got on it.  The bores were a little ruff from the media/sand that had gone through it so it still will occasionally puff...

Summer upgrades that got a little out hand...1.5 year upgrade

Final trip of this season. It was a good one with some smooth dunes, hearing tons of boost noises, and beautiful weather

Summer upgrades that got a little out hand...1.5 year upgrade

I remember buying this pc1200 battery at Kartek and spending roughly $240 and now it’s it’s $360 what the hell changed. Ordered one off of jegs and it was $316  Hopefully I don’t need two of them this thing is a little taxing on the batteries now.

    Freshening a turbo J35

Skid plates installed now the last of the paneling need to be cleaned up and installed pretty much ready for this upcoming weekend…3 week engine rebuild.    Rock bouncers would approve of the steel skid plate. It’s what I had

    Freshening a turbo J35

The engine is running. After a valve adjustment confusion and a misfire from right valves. We got it fired up. Engine was idling around 31 psi and when blipping the throttle it would come up to around 60. Was hoping for more. But maybe that external cooler is just too much

    Freshening a turbo J35

Cleaned the heads up. Ordered up some new valve seals from halferland. Polished all of the cam journals. And then proceeded to cuss out the keepers installing them with the manual spring compressor.   Makes me miss the old shop with the fancy pneumatic spring compressors.    long blocks just...

    Freshening a turbo J35

Short block is assembled rod bearings checked out and were sitting around .0017”-.0019”  Let’s hope that damn oil pan seals up…that cast aluminum the pans are made of are not fun to weld.

    Freshening a turbo J35

Gave the ol block a scrubbadubdub earlier today after work. Gave a final plasti gauge check just for a final visual. Clearances we’re hella sweet! So greased the bearings up and dropped the crank in.

    Freshening a turbo J35

well the cam ended up needing a little polishing so I chucked it up in the lathe and hit it with some 400 grit to take the ridges off. Heads are all cleaned up but didn’t get any picture my phone ended up dying    The dogs just for entertainment…totally not spoiled

    Freshening a turbo J35

I think I found the culprit to the bearings and un happy oil pump. The valve covers had media sand or just straight up sand in them. Cut the rivets that held the baffle plates in there and BAM chit ton of sand.    I should have all my parts and chit in by this weekend…hopefully.
