Here is an observation I noticed last night about the popular vote.

2016 popular vote total: 128,838,392

2020 popular vote total: 155,506,285 (a 26,667,893 increase from '16)

2024 popular vote total: 138,739,856 (a 16,766,429 decrease from '20)

The final numbers are not in for '24 but doubt they will change much.

Was 2020 an anomaly? Or is there another explanation? I have read that the RNC deployed thousands of poll watchers this election with an emphasis on the swing states.
