If you weee gonna buy a new dually what would ya get?

That dealer should clean those god damn dirty seats. It’s a longhorn what you were seeing. There is actually stitching in the seats. Not dirt.

Got a 2021 dodge Dually limited longhorn. Aisin with high output and 410 gears. Truck tows like a dream. Definitely happy with it at 31k miles

So that transmission is actually that big of a deal to pass on this one?

I say yes. My last dodge was a 2500 with the 68rfe and failed at 80k motor is great. The Aisin is a game changer. Shifts very smooth and the power is awesome. Gets about 16.5 mpg out on the highway.

That’s what I keep hearing.. 80k and kaboom

Something else nobody is talking about on the Rams is you need to flush the coolant at 30,000 miles. Reason being is the heater core will take a shit. And if that happens absolutely everything has to come out of the front of the cab to replace it. Buddy of mine is replacing the heater core on a 2021 gas 2500 because the way the heater core sits in the unit the bottom fills up with sentiment and it won’t heat up the drivers side or defrost the windshield. Your mileage may vary.

I have never heard of this. Interesting

I have a 2018 ram 3500 Megacab single rear wheel with aisin and have zero trans issues at 50lk miles. But my gears are 3:42. I hit 17.5mpg empty last week on a long trip. I see 8-12mpg towing doubles.

The aisin is 10x better than my old 48rfe trucks. And do t forget the exhaust brake is awesome

So I passed on the truck because it had the wrong tranny.. :/

This ain’t stitching, looks like a dirty mechanic owned it, that seats beat to shit for 11k miles
68rfe on my 18 broke the trans solenoid every 50k miles like clock work. At 180k grenaded the trans and replaced it. After replacing zero issues and sold at 320k and it’s still runnning string w new owner

Aisin trans avoid 2022’s, my 22 ram cclb 3500 Aisin trans replaced at 14k, then rebuilt at 28k, and lemon layed it
My 23 ram megacab 3500 Aisin at 98k and zero issues

Honestly I’d keep what ya got, not like your rocking a 7.3 trying to convince everyone how great it is, lol

All new trucks suck, all of em, gm, Chevy, ford, ram. They all have problems. The only cool stuff is the digital crap, heated and cooled seats etc.. But very likely to fail eventually at a stupid replacement cost.

Add a big screen to your existing ride and keep on trucking

Looks like the 10 speed "Allison" transmissions (Allison in name only, it's GM's version of Ford's 10 speed) are having issues now:

I'm not sold on these high multi speed transmissions. They are always shifting and never feel like they are in the right gear. My 2018 F150 company truck was recently swapped out to a 2022 F150 and the trans is always hunting. My wifes new Explorer ST has the same issue. My 18 Ram with 6 speed seems just right to me. I agree the old years of 3 speed trans needs an upgrade but i think they too it too far trying to chase MPG and giving up torque.

I like the 10 speed...

But yeah: you need to sometimes push that M button and pick for it. Otherwise, it will keep going all over the place for no real reason.

I was going to say that! But man they are not only dirty but worn out after 1 year! My truck is going on 8 years and I don't think they look that bad. Maybe the odometer has been turned back.🤷‍♂️

This is old news, if your looking for a Dmax 2017-2019 are the years that still have the Real Allison 6 speed in it and no CP4 to worry about.
GM and Ford run the same 10 speed trans. I believe there are some fixes out, but they have been less desirable.

Ford and General Motors collaborated to develop a 10-speed automatic transmission for use in both Ford and GM vehicles. This joint venture resulted in a 10-speed transmission that is used in various models from both manufacturers. While each company produces its own version with unique software and programming, the core design and engineering are shared.

Uhh, this is a hilarious "fix":

Remedy and Customer Impact

At this time, parts to fix the defect are not yet available. However, once the parts arrive, GM dealers will install updated transmission control module (TCM) software. This software will monitor the transmission valve’s performance, detecting any excess wear up to 10,000 miles before a potential wheel lock-up could occur.

When excessive wear is detected, the vehicle’s transmission will be limited to fifth gear to avoid the downshift that could cause a wheel lock-up. A “Service Engine” light and a “Reduced Propulsion” message will also be displayed on the vehicle’s instrument panel, alerting the driver to the issue.

LOL. Basically, we didn't fix the problem, we just let you know your shit's gonna assplode with pleeeeeeeeenty of warning.

It appears the VBs are different between them, as well as some other items. The Fords seem to fail less often, but neither are awesome.
